Tuesday sees the wolf pack travel to Hillsborough to take on Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
The two sides met twice in the league last season with both games being close affairs. Wolves ran out 1-0 winners at Hillsborough with the return fixture at Molineux producing a 0-0 draw.
From past experience the Owls know exactly what to expect from Wolves as Nuno Espirito Santo is determined to play the same way, the same system and does so, no matter who the opposition.
Currently 14th in the league having gained 7 points from their first 5 games. Wednesday started the new season with a 3-2 defeat at Wigan. This was followed by a 1-1 home draw against Hull, a 2-0 away win at Sunderland in the first round of the cup, a 2-0 loss at Brentford and two home 2-1 victories against Millwall and Ipswich.
The Owls were placed under a transfer embargo in April having fallen foul of the EFL's profitability and sustainability rules which state that clubs are not allowed to post losses in excess of £39m over three years without punishment. The embargo has recently been lifted.
Wolves travel on the back of Saturday’s home draw against Manchester City. As is normal with cup games, it is to be expected that Nuno will make some changes to the side that worked so hard in the game against the league champions.
First starts for John Ruddy, Ruben Vinagre, Ivan Cavaleiro, Adama Traore and Leander Dendoncker are all a possibility.
Whatever starting 11 that Nuno chooses I think Wolves will be just a bit too strong for the Owls and will progress through to the next round.
Gem’s prediction 0-3

Bit concerning to hear that Dendonckers fitness is so far behind given he was at the world cup as well, as a professional he should be close to top fitness even when he has time off.

Garth Crooks a plonker? Whatever next and there's me thinking you had the best commentators and pundits over there. Must have worked for Sky then.

Jordan Graham off to Ipswich for the rest of the season. Good luck to him and what a shame he couldn't quite break through with us. Has so much potential.

I did say I would be surprised if we won, didn't I
It was not a good match, but never mind - I always enjoy a midweek night match. Good luck in the next round.
