Now that we've started well, I've seen several opposition supporters label our squad as thin.
'Let's see how Spurs' thin squad copes at the business end of the season.'
When challenged, people backtrack and say something along the lines of
'But the quality isn't there'
Our squad isn't thin at all, and is full of quality.
GK's:
Lloris
Vorm
Gazzaniga
RB:
Trippier
Aurier
Walker-Peters*
LB:
Davies
Rose
Walker-Peters*
CB:
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Sanchez
Foyth
Dier*
CM / DM:
Wanyama
Winks
Dembele
Sissoko
Dier*
Eriksen*
Forwards / Wingers / Attack Mid:
Son*
Moura
Lamela
Alli
Eriksen*
Strikers:
Kane
Llorente
Son*
* = Covers more than one position
So Spurs have pretty well at least two options for every position, some of which are considered some of the best in their position in the league, if not the world, players such as:
Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Kane, Dembele, Moura, Son.
Then if players like Rose and Wanyama get a long run in the side, they too could again be one of the best players in the league in their position.
I would also say many of our back up options are on a par, if not better than say United's, Liverpool's and Chelsea's.
A lot of supporters are being incredibly short sighted and just assuming that because we made no summer signings, our squad is thin.
I reckon if we'd sold say three players and signed three players to replace them, Spurs fans wouldn't be as irritated, which is quite strange logic - and opposition fans wouldn't be calling our squad thin.
Anyway, let's hope I'm proven right.

3421 was the main formation in the 2016/17 season. I dont think you can call wanyama a DM when we played this, he is more box to box than people give him credit for

Problem is absolutely nothing to come off the bench."
Yet Spurs fans criticise us for pointing out their lack of squad depth

so what type of player would you have wanted to bring off the bench, and at what point in the game ?

Interesting discussion from earlier this season, wonder if views have changed at all?
Personally I still feel that the squad is too light on quality and that it’s too much to expect the quality team you have to carry the others.
