Just been reading the little book that came in the season ticket tin - 'The Managers of Manchester City'. Each manager gets a couple of pages, and is introduced with a one liner. For example:
Alan Ball: 'Got off to a bad start and never recovered'
Steve Coppell: 'Unwanted record for the United winger'
Phil Neal: 'Ill-fated temporary role for Neal'
Frank Clark: 'Failed to take the Club forward as anticpated' (wtf!)
Much as I am enjoying the howls of indignation at a club nearby, they really have no idea what a truly chitt manager is. For example my one liner for Frank Clark would be 'Miserable usless t0ssser who couln't set out a team to save his life'. Steve Coppell 'What the feck happened Steve will we ever know?'. Alan Ball '2-2 wasn't quite enough'. Hours of fun to be had composing your own one liners. It is an interesting booklet evoking a lot of memories.

The Frank Clark era coincided with my RTW backpacking tour and I never saw a single game with him in charge.
Yes, I'm a lucky baastard.

It might be false memory syndrome, but it wasn't the worst I remember - it all had a kind of gloomy inevitability. The Stuart Pearce year was the one I really hated.

The Pearce era was crap. But I never contemplated giving up my season card, much less tell all and sundry on a football forum that I would do so. Eh, little Eric?

I had to phone the Samaritans after every Stuart Pearce game.

Wouldn’t change a single minute of it either.
