Sarri subs

One of the main things I've noticed since Sarri came in is his ability to get his substitutions almost perfect. They're well timed and always seem to produce an impact. Easy to mention fetching on Pedro to score the winner but even just fetching on RLC yesterday gave us a great foot on the ball, drive and extra attacking threat at a time we desperately needed it. Stark contrast to contes last season of bringing players on with at most ten minutes left with little impact.

Sorry I can't understand it because there were many games last season that were just drifting and looked a complete stalemate.

True the Etihad game was the worst example but there were plenty more.

Our bench also looks alot more balanced and threatening this season to last for me, especially considering we only signed 3 players

Certainly there are more quality players coming off the bench this season

Well, mostly they are the same players, just showing better quality!

and more importantly working with a coach that doesn't demoralise them with his negative outlook and tactics!

The midfield options are lot better this season than they were last season, you could argue that Barkley and RLC are a better option than Baka and DW

I don't see why anyone would argue the point to be honest!

Good thing about his subs is he keeps it simple. So many managers overcomplicate substitutions, worry about fitness, gametime for players, changing shape, etc... he just sees something not working and makes the sub knowing the player naturally will offer something different. Goes for his team selections too.

Pedro for Willian yesterday was a great example. Started Willan foreseeing Bournemouth will copy Newcastle's back five so attempted to give us more width to stretch it, but wasn't working as intended so simply reverted back to type. Simple, and it worked.

Sarri's a fantastic manager from an armchair manager's prospective. Very easy to see what he values in players and how he intends to use them in his system. Great ego boost for wannabes nerds like me who think we know everything, he vindicates us
