FFP 2.0

So it comes into effect next summer and this time the rule is pretty straight forward. You can’t have a net spend greater than £89m.

Is this enough to bring football fees back into reality?

If it was in place this summer only Koop and Pool would be facing any action from Uefa so hardly seems like the bar is set that low.

what is curious is that its all season

so int heory a team could spend 200m in summer and just tell uefa they intend to sell 111m in january

but then struggle

It isn't really that straightforward as the vast majority of transfer fees are paid in instalments and contain add ons.

So if we bought a player for £100m and structured it so that we paid £50m this summer and £50m the next, would we be breaking the rules? I doubt it as they would probably do it per financial year.

Teams will find a way round it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
but if in your example you did that

youd only have 39m this year left to spend and 39m the following year, so it will catch up with clubs who do that

I was thinking Spurs, they could do with spending a bit. But with all the stadium delays and extra costs etc. I'm not sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They had a bit of money and I reckon they may try and pick someone up from a CL drop out team or someone like Rabiot as they did Moura.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
rabiot is coming to us, im itk
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like that!

Doesn't stop Sanchez earning 850k a week though

£425 a week each for Sanchez and the imaginary friend he passes to

im not sure you could limit an individuals wages. you could probably create a club wide salary cap.

i think the target is 100m euro which ironically is 89m quid at todays exchange
----------------------------------------------------------------------

LaLiga's had a salary cap for a few seasons now.

Not sure of the exact details, but I believe the total outlay on players' wages is a % linked to the club's turnover.

In principle it benefits the clubs with the biggest revenues, of course, but press reports over the past couple of years have suggested that the big 2 are both operating extremely close to that cap, which has been to have hamstringed Real Madrid's ability to make new big-name signings.

That said, Ronaldo's departure seemed mainly to be aimed at reducing the wage bill in preparation for one or two big summer signings, but they never materialised, no idea why.

His passing was pretty good on derby day where you fecked it up.

Will not make the slightest difference, the chequebook clubs always find a way around it. Unless you have a complete wage cap, and spending cap across the board, then nothing will change.
