Van der Vaart

Hi Guys,

Brilliant win for us yesterday, felt like we laid down a marker for the 4th spot yesterday. 4-4-2 is undoubtedly our best system to go with but feel this could cause problems with Van der Vaart in the future as he doesn't fit the system. He can't play centre mid or right mid and can't play up front. I am sure he won't be happy on the bench and will probably kick up a fuss. Just wondering how Redknapp will handle it. Thoughts?

play 4-4-1-1 with VdV in the hole and Adebayour up top

Defoe isn't anywhere near as good as those two anyway. He could be a pacy sub.

Defoe may not be near as good but he's scored twice in two games, can't drop him.

Guys , I watched the game and I felt Defoe was pony. It took him god knows how many chances to score, he never looked for the quick first time ball, he slows our attacks down because before he will pass he looks at either shooting or taking the man on and most time he misses or loses the ball.

I'd play VDV up top with ADE

I've never been comfortable with him having that free role. No doubt hes quality on his day but it completely disrupted us. I'm sure Harry will work it out in training though if he and Ade could strike up a good partnership itd be great for us but he needs to be more disciplined and stay up top.

I know some people say he just wants the ball all the time and is unselfish but he needs to be more selfish. Our Midfield is quality enough to get ball up front for him.

I'm happy to keep a strike force together while it's scoring, can't complain about 5 goals in 2 games between them!

I am already dreading Adebayor leaving at the end of the season

not taking anything away from your absolute drubbing of us, but counting 3 goals against 9 men isn't really cause to say it's working

I was going to say that we may have an option to buy him but the the fact is that if he has a good season then there will be a host of clubs who can offer bigger wages lining up for him.

the wages with ade will be a huge problem for us

we just cant match what others will pay him especially in this form
