Pep & Jose Transfers

Interesting comparing Pep & Jose’s transfer activity so far

Start of last season City & Utd were joint favourites having been separated by goal-difference the season before
Utd haven’t finished within 15 points of the champions since Ferguson spat his wrigleys out for the final time

Wee Davey the chosen one wasn’t backed in the transfer market and although Van Gaal was given some money to spend its Mourinho who’s been given the filthy rag lucre to squander
And how 🤣

Seems amazing that Woodward is ostracised when its pretty clear the problem lies elsewhere

Thoughts ?

Peps kinda lucky that he had a great core of players to work with when he joined. Kompany, Yaya, Fernandino, Aguero, Silva even Ottemendi to an extent.

Jose only really had De Gea the rest are lets face it pretty poor.

And the point is what he’s bought haven’t improved on an already pretty poor squad despite spending over £400m

Guardiola had De Bruyne and Sterling already too

Oops how can you forget about them. You could say if it wasnt for these WC core players he wouldnt have won the PL with ease. He's still be building a squad imo.

Pep may only be in his third season but the club had been building towards his arrival long before he was even announced mid way before Pellegrinis last year.

Out of the 9 Utd players listed do you think any would get into a pep squad ?
Fred possible
Pogba not unless a significant upgrade in his workrate
Rest nowhere near good enough

I don't know enough about Fred or Dalot yet so can't comment.

Lukaku wouldn't improve under Pep, just hasn't got it as a Pep player, likewise Matic.

Lindelof looks like a fish out of water in this league and I think he'd perform worse under Pep's demands.

Sanchez, possibly. I personally think he's going downhill.

Pogba would improve if he could cut out laziness, probably too much of a likeness to Yaya with Pep though.

Mkhitaryan is another that could have done better under Pep, definitely his type of player.

Bailly is raw and very rash, but Pep got Otamendi playing well and to his liking so maybe there's something there.

Mkhitaryan has improved at Arsenal ffs. Lukaku is the epitome of not a Pep player you need good control and passing to play Pep ball. The centre halfs are beyond improvement.
