Losing to Accrington seemed almost too difficult to contemplate when we kicked off in League 2 following relegation. But we did. And given their form this season it does seem more than a remote possibility this time.
The game against Bradford was not easy and one reason why we beat Plymouth was because they were a poor side. Conceding 2 goals showed weakness in covering those who were allowed the opportunity to shoot.
Whiteman will be an asset restored and although Taylor (J) was OK and Crawford was not incompetent, neither would have grounds for feeling wronged if they did not start tonight.
9 League matches without defeat makes AS a difficult proposition. There have been quite a few draws, but never more than 2 goals conceded. At home they have been prone to 1-1s and lost their first game and did not win there until last time out (vs Wimbledon).
Their home gates are very poor, so the away fans are probably more evident and supportive than at most grounds. So it's a pity that it's midweek and also live-streamed on iFollow.
I think I'll say 1-1 with the noble Marquis on the mark with 2100 there.

A good game of football, with rather more quality than the TV game (Ipswich-Middlesbrough) which I glanced at from time to time.
The commentators heaped great praise on the manager's favourite substitutes, Crawford and Taylor in advance of their appearances to replace Blair and Copps, but their impact was fairly close to zero.
Overall we might have deserved a draw, but Accrington matched us and played good football, so we can hardly complain.

Overall they just about deserved the victory.
First 25 mins we were the better side but after that although we had chances they were on top.
Subs.
May did ok other 2 nothing really
Marquis usual ran his socks off put his foot in etc.
Wilks totally abysmal
26 excellent
Kane whiteman did ok put didnt produce alot.
Blair busy but lost possession alot and had a great chance to score but simply ran the ball out of play.
Andrews a game he will want to forget.
Butler wright excellent.
Mason quality.
Marosi....MOM brilliant.
The goal was obviously well worked fantastic distribution by the keeper
He was so pleased he ran to dug out to be congratulated by coaches.
I think we need a partner for Marquis but thats not really news.
Good vocal home support.

Lanza, I mostly agree with your comments except I think we just about deserved a draw. Wilks was really bad - should have scored at least two in the first half. However, it is his petulant behavior that upsets me more. He'll be getting a red one of these days. It was hard to recognize Andrew in this game, and I thought Mason had a few too many stray passes, but overall played well.

I was going to mention Marosi's continuing near faultless display, but I thought I might be getting a bit biased towards him. I do not think though that I have ever seen anyone in goal that seems so often to be just there to catch the ball in precisely the right position more or less every time. He must be one of the best in the League and I hope he is being suitably rewarded.
I think credit is due to Accrington on their football; I have not seen 90 minutes of every game, but they looked the better than any other side we have met. Let's hope this was their absolute best.
To quote their manager John Coleman
“It was a smashing game with two good football sides, lots of endeavour, it was honest, there was no cynicism and it was end-to-end stuff.
“We started well and then they came into it but at the start of the second half we were like Tasmanian Devils, we were breath-taking for 15 minutes and created around seven chances in the first five minutes.
“Doncaster are a very good side, they will be challenging for the automatics at the end of the season and we just have to hang in there.
“We have proved we can play good football, some of their players were glowing with praise with the way we played. Some of the football was fantastic and long may it continue.”

Uthred's prediction of a loss here was highly perceptive - well done! The draw people may gain some satisfaction, but no points.
The crowd figure shows just how supportive our travelling fans are - 500 or so I think for a midweek match is excellent.
The people of Accrington do not know what fine football their side are providing. No doubt a goodly proportion of them prefer the nightmares they get nowadays at the Theatre of Dreams.

Yes - for some reason I had you down for 1-1, but I can see it was actually 3-1, a win, so 72 to carry forward.
Sorry.
