what is everybody`s form of employment. My memory is not what it should be, so I need to update my notes on everybody. I know that Ace is a very successful businessman (the next Richard Branson), and I am obviously a retired Oil Executive. But what about the rest of you. I guess a lot of Office bods, with the amount of time spent on JA606
Come on front up, whatever your job, from bog cleaner to High flying City worker, you are all I am sure thought of very highly whatever your chosen profession.
I am such a nosey bastuard aren't I?
I know we have done this before, but

One of these days you will mate, and we'll all have to make ourselves scarce.
They'll be no hiding place for us

Capri is a bit of a nightmare with the crowds.
If you do go, get a jacuzzi room at La Minerva. Beautiful place.

Apparently Ischia as nice. The boat stops there on the way to Capri.

Yes Pompeii we are doing next time. We were only there for 4 days in September and that was spent relaxing, plus exploring Sorrento itself and choosing our venues. Pompeii and Capri are on our list.

Pompeii is unbelievable Don. Seeing the minute people died 2000 years ago. Feels like you are stepping back in history!
It’s harrowing but so worth seeing!

Ted,
We did have a US election thread but it has passed away sadly. Was quite a good thread for a long time.

And there is a Brexit + all sorts of rambling musings thread that is still thriving if you're game hehe.

By the way, I saw you said you're in academia. What field may I ask? I too dabble in academia.

Computer Systems.

Ted, you are 10 years older than me if you saw Ted Ditchburn play, shouldn`t you be retired by now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am retired. But I am still invited to lecture at various conferences. When I get an invitation I ask my wife "do you want to go there?" If yes, then I accept. Otherwise I decline.
Can't tell you any more, Sandy!

Oh yes, my title nowadays is "Emeritus" which loosely translated means "retired but still active"!

You have to go to Capri at the right time....which is before the Romans take their vacations. I found May a good time to go. It can be a truly magical island.

Don I would also recommend doing the Amalfi drive, but take one of the official tours or drive yourself. One thing definitely don't do is do it through the local bus companies. It's a white knuckle ride from hell. If you can imagine the scene from the Italian Job with Michael Caine where the coach is hanging over the cliff at the end, that's what its like. They gun it and only turn the wheel at the last minute and it's worse when you are going there because you are in the outside lane.

Ironically you don’t want to go too early or late in the season. Most of the restaurants will close at 5 and the majority of hotels will be closed.
