Coventry certainly have the momentum working well for them right now and whilst we never seem short of generating power it does not always seem to take us where we want to go.
I have not seen us play badly, carelessly at times and sometimes lacking co-ordination, but McC seems to have to ability to get everyone working hard. Success has sometimes eluded us through the good fortune of the other side and there have been lapses in organisation that have let us down, but luck evens out and a solid base represents sustenance even though tomorrow we may be a bit short of defensive experience. Amos, and Anderson (T) have been his defensive subs, but perhaps he might find a starting place for Crawford. There could well be a risk of his favourite Anderson (J) coming in and I think that would be unwise judging by his reckless tackle not far from the half-way line with no attacking threat in sight in the opening minutes of the Plymouth match when he might easily been sent off.
We ought to be able to give any side in this League a good game, home or away and there have been no easy wins against us, but a degree of tighter control must be found if we are to sustain a promotion challenge.
Without looking back at the history of this fixture, you would not describe Coventry as any kind of bogey team for us either home or away, but it looks as though they are better now than they have been since they went down from the Championship. Mark Robins' has had success and has survived much longer than most in management and he has obviously found a niche back at Coventry, so we can be sure that he will be making the most of his and his team's experience.
At home, on form and only 1 point behind us you would expect the betting to favour them, so a draw might be a realistic optimistic forecast, but To Hell With That! I'll say 1-2 t us and Wright with number one. 11,000 there, but only 400 or 500 leaving happy.

Don you are correct.
We can't just blame misfortune.

Is it a Big Issue. Is the honeymoon over?
Or will luck rather than good judgement see us through?
You can only build a successful team on solid foundations. At the moment we seem to have regular subsidence.

3 things need to change if we are going to finish in the top 6.
1, Need to sort out what the he'll is wrong with the way we defend set pieces.
2, We can't go on missing chance after chance, were are not going to score every time but some of those we've not put away, have cost us, just like last year.
3, My biggest bug bear, why can't we play for 90 mins. Either a brilliant 1st half followed my a crap 2nd, or the other way round.
Would love to see us play 90mins just like we all know we can play for 1 half.

If only the team could aspire to our hopes! But then the realistic forecasters would not have the edge. This time it was Yorkshire Lad and Lanza who were spot on.
The crowd forecasting went well particularly since it was a big one again. Since I was one of the 5 pointers I can perhaps say that the crowd points are possibly disproportionately big and we possibly ought to look at a possible change next season. I think the most difficult thing to guess is the score followed by the scorer, so adjusting those might also be worth considering.

Should you get scorer points if you forecast we wont score? Id favour ditching the crowd points entirley. Possibly replaced by half time, full time score or number of cards for example.

Thanks Nookie.
I do give "scorer" points for a forecast of no scorer, i.e. 0 which I feel is just. If this is not done it means that anyone who is 100% correct in a forecast where Rovers fail to score will get just 6 points rather than 9, but no bonus. That said, perhaps 10 extra bonus points is a bit generous.
Half time score might be worth considering.
Perhaps we might give 6 points for the right score which is the most difficult to predict, 4 points for the scorer/no scorer and 3 for the result and ditch the bonus.
Forecasting the crowd (which is not without interest and has an element of judgement/skill) perhaps ought to be downgraded to 3 points maximum with 3 ranges: 0-200; 201-400; 401-600.
As it stands, the range of predictions are based broadly on results of the sporting contest rather than a wider range of betting options available from bookmakers which are really dependent on the referee's disciplinary decisions. That would seem to take us away from the traditional theme into the realm of pure gambling.

Donaldo, well considered and logical as usual! Im happy whatever you decide. I noticed GM's confident ,if not defiant, tone changed after last Saturday's match. He admitted that he had picked the wrong team. Who do we think he meant?

Nookie/Donaldo,
I certainly support a change in the points given for the crowd and I did suggest it at the end of last season despite getting several 5 points during the season. Something along Donaldo's suggestion seems about right. Must try and find what I said last year!
I am also wondering who GM meant!

Wondering who he felt under-performed or who was unsuited to this role, I did watch a fair amount of the first half and one player saw very little of the ball; that was Crawford who nevertheless seemed to play a useful part when he subbed the previous time.
Since then GM has spoken again and switched his focus to all the players' performances. This latest theme was that he has warned players that they should not be complacent; no one should be confident of a permanent place in the team.
Having said this, what did strike me about the play in the first half on Saturday was that we were not obviously second best football-wise or even in terms of effort; we were second in goals only.
I have been impressed by 2 teams this season, Accrington and Sunderland, both of which were better than us in some respects, perhaps crucially in terms of organisation, but we probably have greater dynamism and can play more exciting football. Winning is the thing though...

Reading between the lines re GM's statement today Id say all is not sweetness and light in the camp! Interesting to see who gets picked for Saturday. Im guessing Wilks will be on the bench.
