A bit too flappy for my liking at times, but he made up for it with some solid work to keep the opposition at bay.
Bellerin - 7
Bounced back from his poor performance at Palace with a decent shift today. An attacking threat as always, but also worked well with Mkhi and Mustafi to mitigate the threat from Sane & Co.
Mustafi & Holding - 8
Both men put in a solid shift against the menacing Liverpool front line. Both men also did very well when required to mop up after their respective wingbacks. Emery will do well to keep them together for a solid run of games.
Kolasinac - 6.5
Worked well with others to limit any influence from Salah. His first game back, so I'll forgive his reluctance to join the attack today.
Xhaka - 7.5
Really loved seeing his defensive side today. Didnt hesitate to throw his weight around and made some key tackles.
Torreira - 9
I'll admit some bias here, but the little hammer had a flawless game today. Could have done with some more protection from the ref who allowed the Liverpool lumps to run amok.
Mkhi - 6.5
Generally had more influence in defence today as he dutifully kept tracking back to help Bellerin out. Unlucky not to get anything from the ref after being poleaxed by the keeper.
Auba - 7
Showed some promise against the Liverpool rightback at the beginning. Could have done more to impose himself on the game before he got hooked.
Laca - 8
Just when you think he's overcooked it, he pulls out yet another pearler for the highlight reels. Had his work cut out for him, having to rely on service from the wings against a well organised defence.
Ozil - 7
Nice of him to turn up to a big game. Even helped out in defence !

Iwobi - 7.5
A brilliant sub to come on and take advantage of a tiring Liverpool defence. Brilliant assist too.
Welbeck - 6.5
Made enough of a nuisance of himself in the box to open things up a bit.
Ramsey - 4
A very quiet game from him.

Unai Emery - 10
An inspiration on the touchline with his never-say-die attitude. Another game-shaping set of subs.
Virgil v Dyke - 8.5
Imperious in defence, and imperious at attacking setpieces.
Milner - 8
Worked well with the other lumps in the Liverpool midfield to limit our attacking play to the flanks. Took his goal very well too.

Personally thought Xhaka was our MotM. Most touches, most tackles, the most progressive midfielder in the game.
Torreira was very good as well, though.

Agree with DJ. Xhaka and Torreira deserved both the best rating. Both on 9 at least.

I thought Xhaka reined back his attacking instincts a bit too much today. I must have lost count of how many times he passed the ball straight back to either Holding or Mustafi without even looking up.

I remember when we signed Xhaka and Mustafi, for the first few months they were solid, then by Christmas it all changed and they lost there confidence, looked like they would never get it back. Unai has def installed belief back into both, although Mustafi was a bit iffy at Palace he has been quite solid with Holding. As for Xhaka, that’s the best performance he’s had in our shirt, against a big team aswell.

Mustafi never looked solid. We had an unbeaten run when he joined and people put him down as one of the reasons for it. He was constantly making mistakes though, lucky to go unpunished.
