DPL vs Chorley

Chorley are three leagues below us and are fairly well supported. However, they lead the Northern Premier League, so are a force to be reckoned with, especially at home.

It is important for us to turn our form around, yet success in the cup is probably not a long term priority. In a sense Chorley's priority is probably not success in the cup either. A bit of icing on the cake for them and for us a dose of humiliation of we go out, so perhaps it will actually be more important to us to win than to them.

We might easily have lost at Ebbsfleet if there had been no fighting spirit from the team on the day and spirit has been a bit lacking on occasions recently.

it will be finely balanced.

So I am going to guess and hope that we can squeeze through 2-1, Butler/May/Marquis and 3200.

It seems we do not get any video from FA Cup games - I do not think that was the case before iFollow started last year. Did anyone on JA606 go to the game? From reports elsewhere we had many chances and several players should have scored - even GM listed some.
One issue that worries me is that both Mason and Andrew were poor. From what I've seen over the season is that Andrew has been inconsistent as compared with how is was early last season. Recently most of his crosses and corners have been poor. While many do not like Mason, I have thought now where he should be at right back he has been just about the most improved player this season, but at Charlton he was average, and according to the Free Press, poor at Chorley.

We did get 2 or 3 minutes from the BBC here and on Sunday the BBC covered all the Sunday cup ties.
Unfortunately their coverage is not of the quality it used to be. They focus far too much on the people from the non league clubs in advance of it all and then somehow seem to miss the mark in the coverage, so we saw the goals soon after they went in, but there was not much visual coverage of the rest of any of the games. At the end there was wall-to-wall coverage of Guisley's defeat of Cambridge with no updating of the final scores in any of the other games. You get sick of "Well, just how much does that mean to you???"

I suppose that if we had lost it would have been against the general run of the play with Chorley hanging on rather desperately in the end.

Obviously we should have won comfortably, so all we might conclude is that things did not get any worse than they have been recently, but the corner has not been turned.

G McC may be trying to distinguish this season from last as his Autumn at Peterborough rather resembled what is happening here. He picked them up a bit from mid December but got the sack in February after a fairly miserable run in early 2018.

As for predictions no one felt we could fail to win, so only the crowd numbers scored with Crazy taking over top spot with his 3 points in that category

Don, the focus on the non league clubs is to be expected really.
Everyone except the followers on the league club involved in the match wants the non league team to win.
It is the FA Cup and that is what it is all about.

To be fair too, it was a big win for Guisley.

Mickey. I was at the game. As has been recently it's the tale of two ends. Poor at defending and not being clinical enough. Our defending over the last few weeks has been nothing short of a joke. Its the worse back 4 I think we've had in a long time. The long awaited comeback of Danny Andrew hasn't been of the expected performances which we saw briefly prior to his injury last season. His set piece delivery is atrocious. The 2 centre half are so so slow. Anderson and Butler I'm sorry are seriously letting us down defending set pieces. Both strong powerful lads but get bullied and turned inside and out numerous times. Mason to be fair to him has had a decent ish season for him but again set pieces defending he ball watches and like Andrew on the other side they both get skinned numerous times. As much as I am/Was enjoying McCanns style and set up a few of us on here did voice our concern that it couldn't last and so it appears. He doesn't seem to have any plans other than all out attack. If we could have last season's defensive tightness and this season's early attack minded play we would be a force to be reckoned with. However fa cup or not drawing with Chorley is nothing short of embarrassing and was so close to being one of the worse results in our history.
