Barnsley could be the best team in this League this season. Winning their game in hand would put them into 2nd place even after a bit of a dip in mid-October. They have not been winning by big margins at home, but they did come away from Accrington and Peterborough with all the points which seems very creditable.
So I think we need to be prepared for a reverse, say 1-0 and 12,000 present.
I'll do the Chorley results after the weekend.

You should have won for me. We were awful and still got a point.

Very civilised of you to say so Snapski. I had heard that there is a Good and a Bad Barnsley. Clearly today, based on your assessment, it was Bad Barnsley. Er...good.

Enjoyed watching you. Played well. Thought you would really tie up in the last 15 after we scored. Opposite happened. You should have won. Great point for us.

Some very positive comments about us from Barnsley supporters on the vsc site and on praise or grumble on Radio Sheffield.
Hopefully our bad run is behind us, no defeats in the last four first team games.

If I'd been a neutral I would have said it was a great advert for League One. As a Rovers' supporter it was frustrating! This was a game if you just looked at statistics you would not get a real feel for what did take place. To me, the basic approach play, and some of the defending, was the best I've seen this year. We were playing a very good team who were forced mainly into just long range shots.
We had so many chances when we should have scored - probably the worst miss was Alfie May's and then in the last minute I do not know how the GK got back to save Copps shot. One could say if he had shot a little more to the right, it would have scored.
But that was a sublime shot from Copps that hit the bar in the first half, and the iFollow commentary over criticized May's shot from a tight angle. Very early in the game I thought Marquis was going to shoot but he saw Crawford was free and would have a better chance than him. However his pass was too weak and this gave the defender time to close down Crawford. This is what GM was saying after the game that in the first half our finally passes could have been better.
Overall, I really enjoyed watching the Rovers play and it was just frustrating we did not take three points. The traveling fans were fantastic!
If we can carry this to Tuesday we should have a good win.
I would just like to add that I've always been a fan of Mason as I saw potential in him. I'd vote him and Joe Wright as the most improved players this season. Mason is a natural right back, but he seamlessly went to centre back - and against a striker several inches and more bulky than him.
I really think we are out of the doldrums and onward and upward!

Thanks for the reports and comments. I saw only the live text and certainly got completely the wrong impression.
I can't remember a recent season that has taken a path anything like this with it ups and downs. There was consistency in the SOD and the Saunders style and Ferguson's teams had a recognisable pattern of play, but McCann's approach is unpredictable. Where will it lead us?

Donaldo,
As I said to me the stats were miss leading. While Barnsley had more possession and more shots, Lawlor had every little to do other than pick one out of the net (OK he did drop two, but recovered quickly). Most of their shots were long-range efforts of low quality.
If we could take more of the chances we create, we'd be fighting for auto-promotion.
It really was an entertaining game - just frustrating for a Rovers' fan!

Outplaying Barnsley and the points we have got from other top teams does suggest that what we saw drifting away from our performances in October is coming back.
McCann has shown the leadership to get the players back on track, rediscovering what was lost in October. Is it confidence, adaptability/tactics, powers of recovery or something else? Certainly the best teams seem to bring out our quality.
Selby is the predictor on form with another correct score. No one thought the crowd, Barnsley's biggest this season, would be quite as large, so no points there at all.
Crazy, also with a correct score, maintains his narrow lead over Mooli.
Perhaps I should reduce the points for Marquis for first goal to encourage a bit more speculation! You are making Kane in particular feel underrated.
Barnsley 1 Rovers 1 (Kane) (13573)
