Alvaro "Offside" Morata

Morata has been caught in an offside position an incredible 16 times in two hours of football.

To put that in context, the Spaniard has been offside every 7 minutes and 30 seconds in the Premier League this season. Not to mention the other two decisions.

Offsides this season:

Bournemouth - 16
Alvaro Morata - 18

Lol this guy just continues to set new levels of bad.

The powers that be, have been waiting and hoping that he might ,just might, improve, but instead of his value rising , it's depreciated even more ! .We'll be lucky to get the price of a ticket for him at this rate !

Maybe he reads what Chelsea fans say on here and off here.

I don't know him as a person so I wont comment on that

But its not working here, he needs to accept this, I've said it time and time again, countless times, its boring, just go mate. It isn't going to work.

He'll score the odd goal here and there against rubbish opposition that also can't defend but in some games his style of play wont work and Spurs on Saturday was exactly that.

For that I blame Sarri, he should have come off at half time, but yet again because Morata has the mental capacity of a 2 year old if Sarri had substituted him off then Moratas glass confidence would have been shattered.

The silly thing is its already shattered again anyway because he knows how god awful he was on Saturday..

He's either offside or on the floor, quite the striker we got on our hands.

Giroud is ok but not the answer to our problems, maybe a short term fix if he can start scoring goals.

Sarri had Mertens up front for Napoli, who is a short quick forward so I can see us going for a different type of forward in January, someone who's more mobile. i.e. the rumours linking us to Wilson

I'll take anything at this stage, it is just depressing watching him on the pitch in a Chelsea shirt

Maybe time to play without a striker.

Agree, it's worth a trial run as both strikers are pretty useless.

its frustrating because Giroud is a good stop gap, it worked towards the end of last season and I bet it'll work with more games than it would with Morata

The offsides were much more about the passing than Morata's movement. Almost all the occasions he was caught offside, it was due to the ball being played way to late.

The guy has shown that he is pretty good when making early runs, and any decent service would have found him yesterday.

Hazard, Willian too often slow down the pace of the attacks, and hold onto the ball way too long. This is to be honest a frequent problem, and has been season after season.

The guy frustrates me as much as anyone else on here, but almost any striker yesterday would have really struggled on the crap service.

There is no question marks over Morata's quality; we know he isn't good enough. Much more can be said about Willian's or Hazard's performances, as whatever has been said about Morata has been said a million times.

Sarri went with that for a bit when he took Morata off & stuck Hazard up front...until Giroud came on

Giroud is not the answer...but hes a better bet than Morata

Be interesting to see what he does Thursday...if he starts with Morata then we get what we deserve

Fair point, he does make some good runs and a lot of the time we don't play the ball early over the top - this is where Cesc was excellent for Costa, they had a great connection.

Morata thrives on crosses into the box as the majority of his goals are headers assisted by Azpi. We rarely cross the ball in as a team as we're too busy doing sideways or our crossing never beats the 1st man.

However, Morata's overall game is shocking, he can't hold it up and spends too much time on the floor, he gets a yellow for dissent nearly every game too.

Whats funny is that for me his performance on Saturday was pretty good relative to the majority of games hes had for us

He was linking up play nice and quickly, and not throwing himself too much to the floor. Nor was he whinging about something, and he was not missing any sitters. Thats a pretty solid Morata outing!

I think no striker who like to be making little runs in behind, would be thriving with this setup. Hazard and Willian are more looking for the give and go, rather than playing someone in behind.

I generally do not like it when we play Willian and Hazard together - we can play some nice football sometimes, but often its way too predictable and strangles all the service for the number 9.
