Giroud, Pedro and Barkley should have all started Saturday, that's down to manager not Spurs.
He showed a complete lack of experience of the intensity of a Derby by not picking an English player like Barkley rather than a Real Madrid show pony like Kovacic, but it's easier for us to be wiser after the event.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it was more of a problem with our best players playing crap.
Hazard, Kante, Jorginho, Azpi and Alonso were seriously bad by their standards.

What different players would you have played that would have made a difference
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pele, Bobby Moore, George Best, Messi
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wouldn’t have made a difference though Brum lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A little flipant maybe
But to say different players wouldn't make a difference is a bit naive.
We will never know but if Ampadu had played in place of Luiz, Giroud in place of Morata, RLC in place of Kovacic, or CHO for Willian, then who knows what would have happened!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All very easy to say after the game but Spurs have been better than us by a big margin in the last two games we've played.
Ultimately, we're so reliant on Hazard going forward and if he has a quiet game it's usually a difficult game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really?
We've known for ages that Luiz is erratic and always liable to mistakes, we've known for ages that Morata would be offside most of the game and probably miss any decent chance that fell to him.
Two out of 11 players that don't carry full confidence in a game of that magnitude will make a difference!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The replacement for Luiz are not much better, Cahill is terrible and Christensen isn't so great and makes errors
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ampadu looks really assured though!
He's only a youth player and not one of the 'experienced' in crowd though, so will be overlooked every time!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree, Ampadu looks a great prospect but to throw him in a league game vs Spurs when he hasn't played all season, there would have been eyebrows raised

Yeah it was a one-off not a default position.
When we played West Ham in 86 we lost 4-0 at the Bridge on Easter Monday after losing 6-0 to QPR on the Saturday and we had to go to Upton Park 2 weeks later and people thought we'd get a serious hiding but we went there and won 2-1 which facked them for the title. Football doesn't work like that and Spurs have already lost 3 times this season so their not quite as good as you think they are despite the fact that they were far too good for us on Saturday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 of the 3 losses were to Liverpool and Man City and the other to a decent and in form Watford side at the time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what? if you want to be fearful before we play them again then you crack on but don't expect the rest of us to be scared because we've had far more good days than bad against these over the past couple of years with both Clubs having the same teams.
Yes they are good but they do not scare me like Man City do end of.

Obviously they're not as fearful as City who spend millions and have got an amazing squad and manager.
Spurs are a good side too, very consistent in the league and their 1st team is very strong and have got a good manager who's been working with the team for a long time.

I'll repeat again. We have had far more good days than bad against this Spurs team so why am I supposed to fret about them?
Agreed Saturday could have been far worse and I am not usually relieved for full time when we have lost but do you seriously think that it is going to go like that every time we play them?

Not as high as my eyebrow as Son walzed past a hapless Luiz, I can tell you!

Today Chelsea team players played great football.I am wondering if the same side at Saturday v Spurs as today would have a produced a different result on the weekend.

Brummie and Summer.
Good result tonight!
Did Sarri just say Kante could not play defensive midfield, after he won the league twice playing there, with us and the Foxes?

That was in a two-man midfield, in a counter-attacking system
The DM position under Sarri is for the regista, the playmaker. Not Kante's forte
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Sarri mentioned that off the ball he wants Kante to be next to Jorginho which didn't happen very often against Spurs as he was too busy on the right wing
