I’ve always felt that 20/21 is young for a CB as they tend to make more mistakes while their understanding and reading of the game isn’t at it’s best, and while he’s had a couple of good games he’s also:
- Given away 2 pens vs Wolves
- Lucky not to give one away vs Chelsea
- Clumsily gifted possession to Arsenal to allow them to score
Not to say that he won’t become a good CB in the future, but the sooner we have our established pairing back in tandem, the better....
... although speaking of one of them - Vertonghen - what was he thinking for the penalty? Madness to do that. Silly pen to give away which meant Dean had no choice to send him off. Although I’d attribute that to Dier’s shocking pass which meant he had to stretch for the ball in the first place.
Really were outfought in midfield today which makes the criticism aimed towards Kane quite laughable. I’m not too sure what some of our fans wanted him to do in that situation.
Facked off with the result, performance overall and also Poch’s inclusion of Foyth over Alderweireld, but thankfully we’ve got what should in theory be the right sort of game to bounce back with, although Wembley looks set to be half empty and very subdued on Wednesday
Sir Tottenham of Hotspur needn’t comment on here, seen enough of his tampon tantrums today

Foyth has shown plenty of promise and no issue with him playing in games like Saints on Wednesday, but he isn't ready for this type of match

Foyth was excellent against Wolves and Chelsea BUT he’s so young he will have difficult moments in all games he plays.
Today wasn’t a game for him.
Can only think Toby was a bit fatigued as he’s had to play pretty much every game.
Let’s see how the kid reacts on Wednesday

Foyth has had some very good games recently. He made MOM on his first appearance for Argentina.
But he also has very shaky moments when he does silly things, usually in the penalty area.
You have to look at the game as a whole today...... how was Davies doing?..... was Vertonghen playing well...... did Dier do anything in front? ... was the midfield holding its own?

Majority of them are muscle injuries as well. Read the other day that of the ‘World Cup 9’, only Kane, Son and Alderweireld have not suffered a muscle injury so far

Yep although Son went out in the group stage and had a pres season under his belt.
Rumour is that Toby was rested due to a hamstring worry and winks needs to be looked after because his ankle ( explains why he’s only starting once a week )
