So nothing unusual there then. My question is can we compare his stats to other great players, considering barcelona can walk about with their eyes closed and still win games 5-0? he hasnt scored a single goal over 2 international competitions (word cup and copa), while spain (aka barca - messi but + torres) are word and euro champions.

You're right.
Messi is rubbish. Thats why Barca, one of the greatest teams of all time, accomodate him. Becuase as an individual he brings nothing to the table.
Barca are one of the greatest sides of all time BECAUSE of Messi, not in spite of him.

I think when some people say he is the best player ever is a little premature, you have to take everything into consideration. Internationals and Club level, for some reason he doesn't shine for Argentina, and they are a good side too!

I think people are over-estimating Argentina here-they're not even the best side in South America!
In any case, Messi is hardly their only under-performer
