I expect us to make some signings in Jan. That will help.
Ramsey, Welbeck, Lich, Cech, Monreal will be gone next season.
So any signings won't be duplicated with players in the squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be more than happy if you're right. But dont think we spend like we should do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We don't need to spend on £100m+ players. At the moment we need good players that are 23-28. Thats what we lack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we dont need to spend.....okay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So we only spend when we spend £100m on a plyer?
Think you are supporting the wrong club. Man City better fits your needs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
we need a very good defender and that cost a bit more than 10M or so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is saying we can only spend £10m on a centre back? Is there nothing between £100m and £10m for a player?

*who.

The way we are acting in the market for years now is not enough for a top 4 finishing. We wont buy in January what is needed.

Yeah because spending £55m in Jan last year on Auba was such a poor signing by Raul.

Can you see us going out and spending that sort of money on the players we desperately need?
A CB, LB and winger are desperately needed. At best I can see us bringing in a poverty CB like Cahill or that Croatian guy that plays in Turkey

This was just an exception. We wont spend that amount of money easily again. But we have to to improve.

Actually I don't think there is an urgency for a centre back. However signing one would be better for the future. A stop gap would be ok to cover for Holding. Mav, and mustafi are coming back soon.
Think if we can get Pepe, Pavon in we can better assess who is available for CB in the summer.

We desperately need a CB. The fact we miss players like Mustafi and Holding shows how bad our options are
posted on 26/12/18
And we are tied for 4th with them. The point is mustafi and holding were doing ok because the threat is the other way. That has to continue or even spending £100m on a defender is not going to help us. Keep in mind thats how Klopp did it as well.
better centre backs are only going to be available in the summer and really only monreal and lich are sure to go in the summer.
we need players where we are sure we are not duplicating players. we are very near the limit of our prem ffp because of the over the top wages wenger gave players. so ramsey and welbeck will be gone. thats where we can add first teamers now that will have an immediate effect.

Not an individual error by Licht? Okay.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Technically it is an "individual" error by Lichsteiner but the focus should first be on a system that leaves him and every one of our defenders exposed, rather than his individual ability. It's a bit like blaming individual players when you conceded a lot of goals from corners, instead of looking at whether poor implementation of the man marking/zonal system is to blame.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ffs. We are talking about an experienced defender here. He wasnt even pressed. Expect him to header that away. Schoolboy stuff
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gunther, go look at the goal again. It's a terrible header by Lichsteiner sure, but why is he back-pedalling and making desperate headers from our own corner when we're 1-0 ahead? Look at Guendouzi trying to hold an offside line on the centre circle and allowing Locadia to get a clean run through at goal and score, instead of tracking him all the way. Our players fundamentally don't know how to defend as a system.
We've cycled through 50+ defenders in the last 10 years and they've all been made to look sheet at some point. It's no use blaming individual players. There is something very amateurish about our ability to defend space as a team.
