Points or Performance???

As you are aware I don’t post that often on here recently as it’s becoming like a school playground at times but I think the Christmas results have certainly thrown up an interesting conundrum for all of us LCFC supporters. What’s more important....winning games, getting points but looking like Coalville Town or playing a different style of play that may leave us open at the back, we concede more, maybe get 4 points over Christmas not 9 but we all are in the edge of our seats watching.

Not many, if any, of us would have predicted 9 points from 12 over the festive period (although it’s very us to lose the Cardiff game while beating Chelsea, Man City and Everton). So Claude has exceeded our expectations there, but compare the performances in the first 2 games to the last 2 and that highlights the issues that a lot of us have, a lack of continuity and too much ‘tinkering’ ironically!!!!

Now ideally we do a mixture of both, but realistically that only happens with the very top sides (which we are light years behind). So where do we stand as supporters, 7th - Europa League - but stabbing ourselves in the eyes with blunt cocktail sticks to stop watching our play or 12th - exciting games - but lose more than we are doing?

Being an interested observer on here it seems that my fellow supporters have VERY fixed views on where we are at as a club and what the future holds on the pitch.

From my perspective we have an extremely exciting squad to develop over the next 18 months, with players such as Maguire, Barnes (when we recall him), Chilwell, Hamza, Wilf, Maddison and Pereira (who is now finding his feet). So credit to Claude for his part in this, but I (like many others) can’t help but feel that we are good but could be better.

But while we are around 7th-9th I don’t think we can complain (yes I know that’s hard for some 😉).

Do I wish we were more incisive, more attacking, played to our perceived strengths more? Yes of course.
But our owners knew what they were getting when they hired Inspector Clouseau and were obviously impressed with his vision etc, so while we are performing as we are then we are stuck with him and his ‘vision’.....

I will just have to be content with watching the Title winning season highlights again and again to remind me of how we can play and how the KP used to rock.

By the way, wolves are in their first season in the premier league - where most teams struggle to just stay up. Hardly a good comparison, they’re doing brilliantly so far it has to be said
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They've also spent a fortune and have Nuno amended supplying them the best Portugese talent on a tap.

I'm sorry but they can't expect to finish 7th if they can't even beat Palace...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’ve spent nowhere near as much as we have this season on top of our already premier league established squad and that’s a fact! We’ve spent £103m so to be fair we should be waaaaay ahead of where they are come the end of the season which I’m sure we will be.....!

I'm content for Claude to continue with his project whilst we're harvesting enough points to keep out of trouble. This on the basis that we're on a journey and performances on the pitch will improve - I have to hope that at least! As bad as we were against Cardiff (why so negative against one of the worst teams in the league?), we were trying to get the ball forward quicker and actually managed a number of shots on target, so even in defeat there was some light at the end of the tunnel (it may be only a small pinprick at the moment but it's there).

Someone's irony meter is a bit faulty tonight I'm kidding, Wolves have done a fine job this year.

Bournemouth on the other hand...3 goals conceded at home to Watford?!!! Pathetic. Howe OUT.

"Come on Joby. Some of the criticism of Puel has got very personal, maybe not on this forum but certainly on other platforms including Radio Leicester which has a much greater reach."

There's the issue though isn't it, other media platforms aren't here are they, that's why many of us use this forum, to keep away from the crazy sh!t on foxes talk or twitter etc.

Anyone on here who has a criticism of Puel is labelled in the same vein as the dimwit on Radio Leicester ( Steve) who never wanted Puel and wants him out despite anything he achieves, well that's no one here.

Anyone who was so vociferous in their attacks on Pearson which were very often personal has no right to be criticizing others for an opinion based on Puels footballing style unless they want to be hypocritical wazzocks

It’s not faulty it’s just used to better attempts

Foxello - you don’t remember the likes of JG and Nev slating Pearson even when we were winning? Wow that’s a short memory

Your criticism of him was mainly in the championship but those two absolutely slated him in the PL pretty much through the entirety of the season even after the great escape.

In fairness, spending 5 months at the bottom of the table and then getting your sh/t together in the last two months, with a squad that would go on to win the title the following wing season with only a few quality additions, isn't exactly worthy of much praise. Fair enough, we had a brilliant end to that season and NP deserves credit, but we were dross for 7 months.

Anyway, I'm pleased to know that nobody other than us nasty Pearsonsceptics has ever been personal or nasty towards anyone ever. I'm so pleased I can rely on you all to guide my moral compass

Us and Wolves are probably looking at each other’s results and saying “they’re odd, aren’t they?”
