We used to always have very creative and stylish Mf players like Cazorla, Rosicky, Cesc and Hleb.

Where are these type of players now?

Being eased out of the game as pace and pressing becomes the order of the day.

Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho were the main men of last night. David Silva hooked.

Ozil cast by the wayside. Even Denis Bergkamp would not have got a game last night.

Cazorla was one of the guys that turned up in big games. Still remember the masterclass performance at the Etihad as well anfield on a few occasions and regularly at the Emirates

Both Silva's were average. Judging from what I've read on these boards, Bernardo must have got a good rap on Sky mainly for looking angry most of the game, "putting in a shift" and "getting stuck in".

He's a much, much better baller than anything he showed last night.

On Cazorla, he's just older now, but is every bit a modern midfielder. In his physical prime he was more than capable of coping with higher tempo pressing, and also pacey enough to have played quite a bit as a winger.

Cazorla surprisingly did well with the physical side of the game, especially when he started playing deeper. He was always harder to get off the ball that you’d think. Could spin away and evade challenges well, he protected the ball and accelerate well into attacking positions. We’ve not had a player who could do that since, he was so good at linking defence to strikers. Still now no one in the squad comes close to being as good at that as he was. Guendouzi shows signs of that ability, he tries to drop deep to collect ball and drive forward to start attacks, and can pick good passes at times. Just obviously needs to improve. But let’s hope someone can fill the void eventually!

Criminally underrated footballer and I’m not saying it because I am biased. Easily my fav Arsenal player since the days of Cesc, RVP, Arshavin

The current post injury, older Santi is still better than any of our midfielders
