Kane and Aguero

Saw a few people on one of the threads on the Multi boards when the Pool game was on saying how much better Aguero is than Harry Kane and how much more he has to his game

Sorry, but people are just so bitter when it comes to Harry Kane. Don’t get me wrong I love Aguero and I think he’s one of the best strikers to have played in the Prem, but so is Harry Kane.

Why can’t people just appreciate both are outstanding strikers and are as good as each other ? This myth that Harry Kane has nothing to his game but scoring is honestly laughable. The guy has proven what an unbelievable player he is with his creativity, especially in recent months and has so much more to his game than most strikers do.

The goal against Wolves is proof in the pudding that he can literally score from anywhere. Golden boot winner at the World Cup , Golden boot winner twice in the Prem and an unbelievable almost Ronaldo like goal scoring record 122 goals in 171 for Spurs.

Sorry, but some real extremely bitter comments I saw on that thread and felt the need to bring it up. Harry Kane is the best striker in Europe for me and Aguero is up there with him to. Aguero is not “ miles better “ , so ridiculous.

It's more a law of averages, really, Wahl. There are 66 million people in the UK versus 7.7 billion worldwide.

Not sure what numbers that might throw up in terms of registered footballers, and I'm aware there's a bigger football tradition in Blighty than in most places, but you'd still kinda expect the rest of the world to produce more talent overall.

it's not just that though. Broz ALWAYS overhypes non English teams and downplays English teams.Sorry broz, I love ya man, but it's true you always do.

itsbronly, I think English players are underrated by Englishmen more than anything as well. I get the sense players like Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are rated higher outside England than they are in their own country.

As I said before it looks like spurs fans are drastically overrating Kane’s technical ability. (Just look at his corners and free kicks over the years) guy was a running meme at Euro 2016.
Great player but not technically on the highest level as someone said earlier. Kane on the same level as Messi technically? No chance.

Probably the best finisher(other than Messi) in the world right now though. Everything he does usually finds a way into the net(World Cup as an example).

comment by Jose Mourinho, just the Portuguese Fat Sam, teaching 19th century football. Klopp is the better manager, and Eva Caniero was right. #Hazard knows. (U21750)

Since when were they not rated in England?

Think you're confusing tribal banter and the fact they never managed to blend into a midfield together to bring England some long overdue international success might have tainted some people's view, but by and large I'd say they're still probably held in higher regard in England than anywhere else in the world - for the very simple reasons that they're both your own and played their entire careers over there.

Wahl, you'd be surprised at just how common some nationalist tropes are everywhere in the world.

You'd be surprised by just how many exact equivalents there are in Spanish of the self-deprecating expressions you use that start with "Only in England...".

I think the tribal thing is more than banter and it does factor into it and does taint people's views on certain players. look at Sir Alex Ferguson saying Steven Gerrard wasn't a great player or whatever he said. So many English people agreed with that and it was absolute nonsense. I remember I once said that I thought Gerrard was on the same level as Xavi and Iniesta in their primes and I was laughed at. I accept there are things Xavi and Iniesta could do that Gerrard couldn't, but the reverse is true as well. It's an example of the grass always looking greener on the other side. English fans love to highlight the flaws of their own players and ignore the flaws of other players. For example, I doubt outside the UK many people would say Steven Gerrard wasn't a great player.

Kane is another great example. What can Kane not do that Lewandowski or Aguero can do. Not much. And he can do things Aguero certainly can't do. Yet English fans will get on Kane's case if he has a bad game far more than if Aguero has a bad game. No one even cares if Aguero has a bad game. And that again feeds into the way people rate these players and why Kane is always rated lower despite being, in my opinion, the better player. The banter actually alters people's perceptions of how good these players are.

^ what a waste of time reading that none of just happens.

Steven Gerrard is considered in this country as one of the top 3 or 4 midfielders of the last 20 years

I would rather be Sergio Aguero than playing as a Spurs player.Aguero is much more good looking and also was the son-in-law of Diego Armando Maradona.
