Trippier

Gonna try and write a measured article while I'm still sulking like a disgruntled child, so bear with me.

I don't want this to be a scapegoat article cause.the reality is that Kane was probably more to blame for our loss than trippier, but I give.Kane more slack cause he's done far.more for the club than trippier ever will.

But I have several reservations and uncertainties about trippier:

- I don't think he has the right attributes for our team. He is known for putting in a good cross but if his passing is having an off day he might as well not be on the pitch cause he offers nothing defensively.

- his positioning defensively is appalling. So often players on the overlap sneak in behind him and he's trying to mark the same player as Toby.

- his attitude, particularly since the WC does not seem right. He seems.too casual, more.showboaty(it's a word, look it up) and doesn't have the workrate you expect of a modern full back. Which makes me wonder why poch hasn't picked him up on it cause he's all about the team coming first.

- I feel that his presence in the team is potentially going to prejudice KWP development, and to an extent, Aurier's as well ( at least development to the poch way).

- some say he works well in a 3.but not a 4. But that absence of versatility simply is unacceptable at the level we are aiming for

I fink that's it. I'm gonna go apologise to my wife for getting pissy about her having the last slice of toast (jeez the things watching spurs does to you).

Any forts?

Martial should have decked him, Sissoko should have been subbed when he first pulled up, falling to the ground while United are attacking was his decision, no need for Trippier to start giving it the big man routine

Trippier is easily the worse full back, holding down a regular spot, I have seen at Spurs in 60 years of watching them.

I presume you were at Wumberley today, Sandy?
How do you like Pochettino's chances of getting a job offer from ManU now?

Yeh I was there today Ted, I thought Spurs played well going forward, but they have such poor fulbacks with no pace, not sure why Aurier and Rose were not starting today.

Aurier wasn't even on the bench.
Rose was, dunno why he wasn't on the pitch.
I knew this was going to be a tough match, but I didn't think we would lose.
Shows how badly Mourinho was doing with this team.

United fans can easily see from the positive perspectives of Pochettino, Klopp, Pep - how these managers managed to win the hearts and respects of their players. What I respect about them 3 is that they understood and adapted to modern footballers - In other words (millennials) footballers have changed and managers must adapt ! We never saw this in old mentality Mourinho and we suffered on many fronts.

Modern Mgrs try to improve and coach players and develop them. What we’ve witnessed with Mourinho is pretty much what we dreaded: a manager who is using outdated ineffective methods - that likes ready-made talent and that probably hasn’t adapted his own style and personality to the modern day young player.

Tripper was at fault but he isn't an FB. He is best used as a wing back in a 352/532 and its varients. It's why he was effective for England but average to pants for Tottenham.

20 years ago he may well as been an RM. If you use him, you have to know his strengths and weaknesses and Poch seems blind to them.

Can't beat a good scapegoat and Tripper seems to be that man at the moment. Not long back it was Sissoko.
Do you really think Aurier is better? Really?
KWP could be given a go but Aurier? Do me a favour.
Looking back at yesterday's game, I look at that first half performance by Eriksen and wonder if we've got a modern day Ray Wilkins. Everything sideways and back. Picked up a bit in the second half but nowhere near good enough over 90 minutes. He should be one of the players stepping up and not leaving it to a kid like Winks.
