Will get you goals but hardly ever involved in general play and his link up play is pretty shambolic. He arrived at the club a year ago and his goal to games ratio is excellent but he doesn't really seem to be that player to elevate us to the next level. Bar the Spurs games, he has not scored against any of the teams in the top six and often in these games is completely invisible.
He has had chances, Chelsea away this season, missing a pen v City last season but he has hardly threatened the defences of these teams whereas someone like Lacazette gets himself about and has actually scored against the likes Liverpool, Spurs, United, Chelsea and City.
Saturday is another big game and we really need him to step up now. His last two performances have been absolutely pathetic for the club but it's about time he starts making the difference in these type of games.
Personally I would start Lacazette up front and Auba on the bench but Emery will probably go with Auba.
We have Chelsea, United and City all coming up. Crunch time for Auba
Auba going to turn for big games or what?

I don't care who scores, i just want a professional performance that includes desire and big effort from the players.
It's always great when both Auba & Laca score of course though.

Yeah he needs to be more clinical in those games. But it also doesn’t help that often the rest of the team particularly the midfield play crap and barely create opportunities for him.

Sorry but that isn’t true, he gets plenty of service, he misses so many golden chances. Westham, Southampton , Brighton, Chelsea. There have been some absolute sitters in there.

He’s the African Darren Bent.

Darren Bent was pretty prolific back in the days

Yeah I’m not denying that. he did miss some good chances in the Chelsea game. I’m just saying it’s not all down to him to turn up. The rest of the team have to turn up and do their job properly to help create chances for him. Which in big games can often not be the case. He’s not sort of player who can create goals for himself. There’s also plenty of games where we just don’t involve the striker much at all

Just pointing out that the team clearly does create opportunities for him.

Agree! They are very "clinical", their players spend a lot of time in the trainer's room and on the disabled list.

A few years ago our strike force was our weakest point and cost us games. Now its midfield that is costing us and its only going to get weaker with Ramsey and probably Ozil going.

It's true. Worst Mf I have seen at Arsenal for maybe 15 years

A lot of strikers miss a lot of chances, even world class ones. Auba is joint top scorer in the league but is playing in a far wors team than those around him in the top scorer list. I think this thread is completely unfounded. He is the best striker we have had in years and playing in a team that at the moment is poor at creating chances and does not play to his strengths, I think because we have some players who are not capable of that and not good enough for a club like Arsenal.
Add tothat, for years we had to put up with Giroud. His goal drought in 2016 where he didnt score for 3 months saw us drop down from title contenders to 4th place.yet a lot of people on here defended him. Auba in his first season with us is already only 2 goals behind Girouds best ever league total for us in 5 years with us. and Auba still has another 16 games to go. Most players will improve after their first season as well. Far superior player and I for one am very happy we have him.
