I’m not to sure if anyone has seen the excellent “Sunderland til I die “ Netflix documentary, but First Team Juventus is another one that follows Juve over the coarse of the season, in particular the season we played them in the CL and got knocked out.
If anyone is interested, it’s episode 4 where it’s mainly focused on the Spurs tie and we as a team get some glowing reports before the game in regards to our qualities, not only by the Juve players themselves but also the Italian media etc.
That being said, that game personifies Spurs and this particular team in a nutshell for me. We were by far the better team over the 2 legs and were totally in control with our advantage at Wembley, only for 2 defensive errors that eventually got us knocked out. Juve are a great side yes, but to be totally in control and still lose ?
This is why I have to keep reiterating, Why do we find it so hard to get over the line when it truly matters ? We don’t seem to have no problems beating the top teams every now and then, but when it truly comes down to the crunch, why do we consistently fail ?
We all used to say it’s a mental issue, but Pochettino has done brilliant down the years to eradicate that to a certain extent, but there’s still just something missing for me with this Spurs side. Until we bag that 1st trophy, it will constantly be an issue.
That’s why this season and in particular Chelsea is so bloody important. Do I have the confidence we will win in the final if we do beat Chelsea ? Probably not!! But surely, this Spurs side are not going to be the best side that never won anything. I guess the point I’m making is, that Juventus game was Spurs all rolled in one. We show so much promise, but don’t actually deliver when it comes to the finishing line. Why is this ?

Don’t disagree with that mate, but the main argument was at it stands were a better side than Chelsea. It’s all hindsight talking about “if they get this person” etc because it hasn’t happened yet. I think we will be ok for top 4 this season. We do need to strengthen in Jan though no doubt

True, currently THFC has a better team than CFC, and i can't see you lot dropping out the top 4 either, unless something major happens.

Nick , no I don’t agree mate. I think us at our best are a better side than you. We have beaten you in our last 3 games mate to prove it. I still think we’re the 3rd best side in the league, but these injuries do worry me.

Fack, forgot about Liverpool. I agree with ya. Meant to say 4th

Sorry guys. Made a mistake in my comment and caused a debate. Not a bad one to be had to be fair. I’d go with the following, and trying to be as objective as I can(other than lloris who I just don’t rate)
Kepa > lloris
Azpi > trippier?
Luiz < alder(but injuries make that closer)
Rudi < verts (I’ll give verts the nod but Rüdiger is quickly becoming a fantastic cb
Alonso = your lb
Jorgino > winks/wanyama (jorgino been woeful last month though)
Kante > sissoko?
Kovacic < eriksen
Hazard > alli/son
Pedro < alli/son
Striker < Kane
Looks about right in terms of starting 11...not much in it.
Thing is we have then Willian, rlc, Hudson Odoi, maybe Higuaín, Emerson, giroud, Christensen, ampadu, Barkley, zappacosta which I think is probably better back ups

CFC have the 3rd best squad, but THFC first 11(when fit) is slightly better than CFC at the moment. But all CFC need is a decent striker and another good player, keep Hazard and they will be better than Spurs imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nonsense - look at the B sides:
Gazza v Caballero
Aurier v Zappacosta
Sanchez v Christensen
Foyth v Cahill
Davies v Emersen
Dier v Loftus-Cheek
Wanyama v Barkley
Skipp v Drinkwater
Lamela v Hudson-Odoi
Moura v Giroud
Llorente v Morata
Wouldn’t say Chelsea’s squad was better than Spurs by any means. It’s an absolute myth that Spurs have a weak squad, just very unlucky with injuries.

Tbf you may be turning a corner. First leg we could have easily walked away 2/3-1 up. But u ground out the victory.

You’re right, Chelsea we’re the better team on the night and our performance in my opinion is the experience gained and lessons learnt of playing Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid & B Dortmund in the last two years and not being overwhelmed or outplayed by either of them (with the exception of maybe Barca at Wembley)

Worcester, I agree it is a myth. Spurs do have a decent squad, but we do lack a bit of quality in depth at times. We do definitely need to strengthen this window, but I agree our squad is a lot better than what people give credit for.

Unfortunately we have no one left to play you at Stamford Bridge Nick.
Dorris the tea lady will be our new DM and Gary the boot cleaner is upfront. I don't hold out much hope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol still got a very good team mate. And without a striker our issue will still be scoring a goal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha very true.
Any news on Higuian? Would rather you don't sign him before our game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think he can play either way, think you have to be registered before the first leg.
