I’m certainly not going to call them “bottle jobs" for this, as a severely depleted Spurs side with literally all our main Attackers were missing today. Liverpool would struggle without Mane, Salah and Friminho as would any top side missing such key players. Had we had just even Harry Kane playing, i’m sure we would be in the final now, but one question I have to ask.
Are we just acceptable to the fact that this Spurs side are just never going to win anything ?
Penalties are a total lottery, but luck plays a part aswell which Chelsea have bundles of, but we just don’t seem to possess at all. I said it before and I’ll say it again, I just don’t think this Spurs side will actually ever win any silver ware.
Fans keep saying “have faith" , but how many more Semi final and final defeats do you take ? Before you say it’s not meant to be with this spurs side. I’m not angry with the team as such, I’m just a bit bewildered as I think this will be the best team that never wins a thing, very unfortunate but it’s the reality we have to accept now.
Are we destined ?

Are we all forgetting Chelsea’s domination for 3/4s if the two legs?

That's a good point Nick, I felt we were unlucky to get nish from the first game when all the big guns were on show and we still dominated. Didn't we hit the woodwork twice?

Look at the teams that have won cups in recent years. Spurs have either been a better team than them or able to compete with them. So yes it is a cop out.

I agree we have had our failing in recent years and failed to take some of our opportunities when they presented themselves.
My argument really was to several on here comparing our squad to Chelsea's when they have had players missing and not affected them.

I thought we were unlucky to lose the 1st leg 69 because, the goal was highly controversial and probably the only chance they had that night.
However I wouldn't say we deserved to win either as despite our domination of possession we created naff all the whole game.
Still - all's well that ends well.

To be fair though Summer, I bet you could not believe your luck that between the two legs, Spurs lost their complete front three. It could only happen to Spurs.

How can you compare Chelsea who can literally buy any player in the world and pay crazy wages to us.I mean they even tried getting their 300k a week man ready for tonight.
Chelsea are in Man Citys spending power and we loosing several of our key players will affect us much more than these teams. Believe only 4 players today started the 1st leg tie so almost a completely different team.
The bottom line is we are punching above our weight and until Levy loosens the purse strings this team is likely to win nowt!!

who is our 300k man Hazard is our top earner on about 200k

Sandy, I bet Bayern couldn't believe their luck in 2012 when half of our team were missing in their own back yard. People used to tell us we'd fall over every time the ACON came round and we'd lose Drogba, Essien, Kalou and Mikel.
We had a squad with a bit of substance then though, unlike the team we have now. Its' just the way it goes from time to time.
Your boys made a fist of it 2nd half last night though and made it an excellent occasion which is something to be proud of!
Until next time buddy!

I agree that the way things panned out it could be argued that Spurs certainly had some misfortune to lose 3 top line players like that between the two legs, but as I said to Don the other week when we were discussing the forthcoming Semi's, luck is always going to play a big part in these events and it is the one element that cannot be legislated for by either team. You just have to hope that it rolls your way to give you edge and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
Some things could have been foreseen like the possibility of Son being away at this time of year, but some things like the Kane and Alli injuries can just come from nowhere suddenly. In the Seventies I used to think that we were cursed with some of the things that happened to us then, it all just goes around I suppose.
