Solskjaer answered a lot of critics tonight

This was a tactical masterclass from him and Mick Phelan tonight. It reminded me so much of watching us under fergie away form home.

This has gone a lot further than tub thumping and releasing the shackles, he is showing us just how good a coach he is and the tactical element of his management.

For the first time in ages, I really can’t wait to watch us play again

I remember people on here, or the original 606, not sure which...used to think that Phelan was nothing but a Yes Man to Fergie. Now they have him almost as co-manager or something?

People are funny."

I can confirm that this was a view back then.

Very much so

Mentioned it on here the other week. Phelan was one of the ones slated on a weekly basis along with Giggs, Scholes, Fletcher and co while people begged for Anderson, Cleverley and Kagawa to start

Players and managers change but fans stay the same 😂

In fairness, I don’t think the two things are at odds if you think about it.

I wasn’t saying anyone was in the wrong - more that there always has been and always will be vastly differing opinions. Even under our greatest manager people moaned!

Nah I get the point. I was being contrary, to be honest. You know the score.

I get the fickleness of football fans and this does come into it. Though if you think about it, it makes sense due to the respective positions the teams have come from.

I was a critic of Phelan, and I think within reason. We saw a sharp decline in the way we played that to me went beyond just the players changing.

But we were one of Europe’s best then. Now we’ve brought in Ole who is a novice at this level and Phelan has returned as a coach who had years of experience from coaching under Fergie. Whether the tactical or technical coaching is top level or not, it’s given the squad a belief and link back to Fergie’s era, which possibly has a greater effect than the superior coaching skills of LVG and Mourinho - and nobody is tellling me otherwise that Phelan and Ole are superior coaches.

Just out of interest guys, what was the criticism aimed at Solskjaer?

He had easy games.

Seems bizarre reasoning to me. Out of the 8 games won under Solskjaer I’d say under Mourinho probably would have won under half that amount, whilst playing turgid football.

I don’t think it was a tactical masterclass. Playing on the counter and getting bodies forward is a tried and tested method of beating Arsenal.

What was good about it was that we are now getting bodies forward and moving it quicker on the counter. Luke Shaw was up on the edge of their box at the end of the game when we were looking for the third.

I saw Shaw do that. Really promising. The only time he'd get that far up previously was on a windy day and he saw a crisp packet blowing across the pitch, to check if there were any left inside.

Toffe, yep it’s exactly that. Some just don’t want to give credit. 8 out of 8 is ridiculous really, he’s dome fantasic. Hopefully we keept it up.

Barf

He should have been looking at Auba like a pack of Salt and Lineker just before ht when he ran in behind.
