Should be a win shouldn't it? They're bottom of the league. Trouble is, they tend to be a bogey team for us and nothing is guaranteed but a win would be nice.
Again, it would be great to send out a marker, we've been here before and have not convinced convincingly. But you ask cerebral Leeds, Norwich, F***st (contradiction I know), Middlesbrough fans and they know the same, you may have a good run but then the stop and starts happen for all teams. Win a game or two and you have the Championship sewn up (F***st) or lose one and it's the end of the drive for world dominance (Leeds).
Derby fall between the two extremes and are pretty phlegmatic about the fluctuations in fortunes. Lose against Ipswich and we shrug, win and we.....shrug.
Waghorn is the new darling, see what he can do when playing in his favoured position? Keogh and Tomori continue to perform very well. I'm excited/phlegmatic about this new chap - King and it will interesting to see if he starts. Do we go all out or save something for Saturday?
With the feeling of looking for a new manager dissipating over the last 24 hours we will all be rooting for Chelsea against Malmo and Man U.

Poor game last night, I went round to my mates to watch the game on the red button. Wish I had stayed at home...

Why ? Did he run out of beer ?

King was alright, no better no worse. He wasn't really much of an upgrade on George Evans last night but when he gets up to speed I expect he will improve.

Exactly as I see it Vidal.
In a game which was notably low on skill and lacking in quality, I don't think King performed any better than BJ. They were both equally responsible for that being the outcome. However, the 'more skilled players' hardly contributed a great deal, either.

Do you think Lampard gets off lightly after games like last night just because of who he is?

No Scouse, I think it's more to do with him being a rookie manager

Well, that is all a bit worrying. We were very poor in midfield v Preston - much better v Hull and it seems poor v Ipswich.
It seems we just cannot prevent our players from being complacent v age lesser teams.

Don't think it was complacency. Just not good enough on the night.
Perhaps the missing link in the Preston & Ipswich games was Huddz ?

Id hate to think it was just cos Huddz was missing we didn't win last night. Lamps made 3 changes. Zoon out was no surprise to me. Bryson for King I can understand with King Cup tied. Bryson's game at his age can not do 3 games in a week...especially when its weds night /Sat lunchtime. BJ over Huddz is the only 1 questionable. And I thought BJ was our best midfield player on the night. Bring on Brighton!!!

And I thought I was in a 'minority of one', Backo
Another change was having Holmes wide on the right. I thought he had a pretty good game and was one of the positives, but could have been more effective in Wilson's position

BJ may have been our best midfielder but he was dire, seriously. Doesn’t say much for the rest of ‘em, sadly.

Was it a case of the formation too?
With 2 holding midfielders we had less options for an out-ball further up the pitch and the ball kept coming back. TL, DH and HW aren't the most physical of players. Think we tried to change it 2nd half with King being the holding and BJ pushing on more only he didn't really.
I'm not sure we've quite worked out how to beat the press without Huddz and maybe this was what Frank was trying to work on.
The inclusion of BJ surprised a few, myself included, on the plus side, despite it not quite working last night (we didn't lose), it maybe sends a message to the fringe squad players be ready, put a shift in and show some form in training and you will play.
Maybe Lamps has higher expectations of the rest of the team too and reasonably expects us to be able to play football with or without the Huddz. If so I think we still need to solve the how to beat the physical pressing sides in the absence of the huddled stone conundrum.
I actually thought TL showed a few glimpses last night too but then I also thought Billy Davies was the next Brian Clough at one point.
PS
I would quite like to see a fit and firing
..................Huddz...................
.......King.................Mount......
trio at some point.
