I think it's widely accepted that this current Liverpool team is one of the best to ever grace these lands. It's only human to compare them to those that came before and it got me thinking how this current side compares to the treble winning Utd side of yester millennia

Alisson vs Schmeichel - Schmeichel might be a legend in Manchester but he conceded 57 goals in 56 apps that season. Alisson has conceded 22 in 32 games. Alisson takes this one by a country mile.

Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Gary Neville - If you're a player and people prefer you as a pundit, that tells you all you need to know about how people viewed you as a player. TAA wins.

Joe Gomez vs Ronny Johnson - I'm sorry Ronny who?? Can anybody tell me anything about this player? That's right no-one even remembers him. Gomez with the win.

Virgil Van Dijk vs Jaap Stam - Probably the toughest one to choose from imho. Van Dijk actually reminds me of Stam in a way. If you had to go into a lab to conduct experiments and create the perfect CB, you'll probably come out with either Van Dijk or Stam. Ludicrous that the drunkard got rid of him. Tie

Robertson Carlos vs Denis Irwin - I always feel like Irwin is underrated when people talk about great left backs that played in this league...maybe because nostalgia is clouding my judgement and he was never really that good. Not one assist throughout what is probably Utd's greatest ever season. Robertson has 7 or 8 atm and we're not even done yet.

Jordan Henderson vs Roy Keane - Roy Keane was captain fantastic before Steven Gerrard even made the term famous. However to be a successor to someone like Gerrard is a big task but Jordan has made that transition seamlessly. Would Keane be able to follow in the footsteps of the greatest midfielder in english football? I doubt it tbh. Everybody in the game currently talks about what a great captain Henderson is. He also carried England to a WC semi-final. Has Keane even played in a WC?

Georginio Wijnaldum vs Paul Scholes - Wijnaldum can tackle and do defensive work AND pass the ball with the ease. He doesn't need the entire midfield to carry him while he just waltz around playing passes to the wings. Mental that I even have to do this comparison. Even Butt got more minutes than Scholes which tells you all you need to know about how "great" Paul Scholes is. Another Liverpool win.

Mohamed Salah vs David Beckham - Record goals in a PL season in his first season with the club. Has his boots on display in a museum. Came 3rd in the Egyptian elections when he wasn't even a candidate. Saved millions of people from committing suicide. Salah can stake a claim for possibly the best human to ever live. He's up there with Jesus and Steve Irwin. Salah wins.

Sadio Mane vs Ryan Giggs - Mane would never sleep with his brother's wife. Mane >>>>>>>

Roberto Firmino vs Dwight York & Andy Cole - Firmino...arguably the most complete striker in the league. Which striker can ever say that they dictate the way their whole side plays? No-one. Not one of them. No-one from the past, present or future. Bobby is that special. He does it all alone. No strike partner needed...unlike the Utd boys and they still couldn't score against Bayern. They still needed help from Solskjaer. 3 strikers to beat 2 centre backs Dont make me laugh please. Bobby mops the floor with all of them.
