A lot fans of players swamped by Madrid’s calling card felt disheartened whenever it happened too.

Case in point with Ronaldo, but there was never any hate towards him.

Some of the Madrid fans are so toxic. They would even display their disrespect towards one of their clubs greatest ever players even when they were winning. So it would come as no surprise if they were passive towards Ronaldo after all he’s done for them.

Obviously there are some decent Madrid fans, but in a stadium full of Los Blancos, the jeering and the boos will always prevail whenever things don’t go for them the way they feel they are entitled to.

I don't really care either way, and didn't expect him to be running around the studio...but he couldn't even muster a mild applause, for what was a fairly remarkable turnaround by his former team.

Disliked by fans of his three of his former clubs - Liverpool, United and Newcastle.

Can’t imagine he’s fondly remembered at Madrid neither.

Is there any other top level former player with this sort of dislike calibre more so than Owen?!

Wasn't expecting Jesse/Patrice levels of celebration but the fact he didn't seem to react at all was a bit weird.
