Interesting stat from Opta recently. Maddison has created more goal chances for his team mates than any other player in the top 5 leagues in Europe. Obviously, this depends on what we class as a ‘chance’ but I do wonder if we (and I include myself in this) are perhaps a little harsh on him at times considering his age, lack of experience and style of play/performances for he majority of the season.

I don’t believe that whatsoever. Created more chances than the likes of Messi, David Silva, Neymar etc etc

you think they lied?

What....one persons opinion of what a 'chance' is. Plus where is this list?
What constitutes a chance exactly?

Personally I think he’s destined for a top 4 club, but he’s young, raw and has a lot to learn. 2-3 seasons and he should have matured in to a very good player.
I’ve never been harsh on Maddison. You can see what he’s got and he’s had very good games as well as messy ones.

Genuinely intrigued - who is it that you think this individual called ‘Opta’?
‘Opta’ - the Greek god of false stats.

I think the definition of chance is a pass that puts someone in for a shot at goal. How good that opportunity at goal is and how we compare them is up for debate.
But still an impressive stat that he has played in more passes into a goal scoring area, that have been successful passes, in comparison to everyone else in Europe’s top leagues.
Number 10 - give him the ball - let him try to unlock a defence with a ball to Vardy or runner into the box. We should never ask him to play deeper again like we did for a couple of games under Puel. Pointless.

Kunta Kante - Maddison is a more complex situation than many see.
On one hand, he certainly has plus point. He hasn't been overwhelmed by the Premier League and looks capable in it; he backs himself to get on the ball, he can win free kicks and he's keen to improve. It's just his first year in the league; Mahrez and Vardy weren't up to it for most of their first year either.
What you point out are indeed things he has to work on. He's a little slow off the mark taking the ball on the turn in midfield and it's just costing him that extra yard or two to get away from midfielders and really cause damage. It's also difficult to work out a proper position for him - he was brought in as a number 10, but he's not always been the most influential in a 4-2-3-1 formation for some reason. (That reason may have been Puel.)
But there's another thing that doesn't really get mentioned. About half way through the year I noticed a change in the way a proportion of my fellow Leicester fans spoke of him. It went from warm to lukewarm, with some getting quite critical. It could be coincidence, but this came around the time when he was a witness in a court case where a friend of his had attacked someone who Maddison himself had been gobby with that evening, in a very "don't you know who I am" kind of way. This was a case from well before he arrived at Leicester, and people do change, but the case didn't reflect very well on his character - essentially being smug and giving it the big "I Am" as is the stereotype of young footballers in this country. As I say, this may be unfair and he may have grown up since, but I wonder whether this has coloured the view of him in some quarters.

Personally, I’d completely forgot about it DM to be honest and had to take a second to reflect on what you were talking about. Not heard it mentioned from conversations with fellow supporters on here and certainly not in or around the ground with friends or others when talking about his potential/contribution.
I personally think he has faded because he’s regressed a little since coming here in someways so I’m optimistic he may continue to grow under a new manager.
