“But then the 14yr olds will complain they didt get a vote at that point in time the 16yr olds could vote”
I think it’s fair that 14 would be classed as too young to vote. Don’t have a problem with 16 years olds having the vote.

The number of people who have signed the petition just reached the exact population of Scotland. Coincidence?

You’ve got to laugh at the 18 year olds who bemoan not getting to vote in 2016.
I assume these 18 year olds will be wanting another vote in 2 years time to accommodate today’s 16 year olds.
And in 2 years, the new 18 year olds will be wanting another vote for the new 16 year olds.
Repeat ad infinitum
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, it's the stupidest thing I've heard
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is it stupid?
If we do leave on Friday you'll have 18-19 year olds, some of who will be 20 in a couple of months, that never even got a say in what is going to influence a large portion of their adult life.
It's not like a general election where they will still be under 18 for parts of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it's stupid
There was a referendum where they weren't old enough to vote, that's life
When Britain joined the common market did the people who weren't old enough to vote on it ask for a re-run ?
its frankly laughable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we have a 2nd referendum, limit it to over 21 year olds. Those that weren't eligible to vote last time still won't be eligible. Seems fair.

Would need to be a change in law for that. Which has been in force since 1969.
Can't see how preventing millions of people to vote, on a decision which would directly impact their lives could be in any way representative of a functioning democracy.

Aren’t they saying that they believe 16 should be legal voting age?
I think there’sna case of be made that 16 year olds nowadays are more politically aware than we were at that age. They also have access to more information than we did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure if I'd have 16 as the voting age, although there is a good argument for it.
My point was more that it was always going to take 12+ months to actually leave the EU in the event leave won, so the government should have had the foresight to give those who would be 18 when they predicted we'd leave, the vote.

14 year olds are old enough to make their own decisions so we need to put the age down to 14. Can we get back to politics though?

Well if time travellers from the future had been allowed to vote, we wouldn't be in this mess.

And if you believe that a single person, a particular character is pulling all the strings then you have no idea. Their strings are being pulled. They are the puppets. The frontman/women.
