Leave aside all the animosity and trash talk, you have to admire how much this City side is fulfilling all its promises. Won one trophy already and now in the final of another which it has massive opportunity to bag that too. Leading the premiership and on the verge of winning it, the second year which is unheard of.
City are setting a great example to us on achieving trophies on every front.
None of that we'll only concentrate on the league approach from Pep.
The way he's handling injuries too is too admire. Taking off De Bruyne, even though the game wasn't won yet, just to ease him in was great management.
Surely, City are the team of the season?
Hoping we can stop them from achieving their CL ambition, but for me they are the benchmark of excellence.
Team of the season?

The idea of best players being sold was brought up. The only best player you sold recently was Coutinho, not any of those others you mentioned.

so we retained the majority of our best players, sold peripheral ones for decent and even obscene amounts, rinsed Barca for Coutinho who wanted to leave, augmented it with prize money (Klopp effect) and reinvested.
what's the problem?

This is all regarding the article praising City (who aren't competing under the same conditions every other club is) and a comment saying Liverpool are big spenders (only taking into account the gross spend) when in reality they've just spent all the money they brought in through big sales... plus extra generated through solid competition performance.

Actually, taking this line forward to City, which players have they sold for huge sums?
easy answer.. none.

I don’t think it’s realistic for Spurs to expect to get anything like the fee we got for Coutinho when it comes to Eriksen. One had signed a new 5 year deal only a few months before, while the other has 1 year left on his deal.
Levy is a good negotiator so I expect no bids higher than the region of £50-60m. So it’s up to him whether he sells or let’s him go for free the following year.

I agree when compared to City. They're in a whole different ball park when spending is concerned. They're just doing what they need to to compete for the title, the same as what we should be doing.

Team of the season? I think their football is highly overrated and boring to watch what they are good at doing is managing the game. They start quick generally get an early goal usually relying on pace of sterling/sane get to the byline low hard cross into the six yard box for a tap in then spend the rest of the game boring the opposition into submission until they get another opportunity to do the same thing, they spend a lot of time passing the ball left to right in midfield and defence because they are all comfortable on the ball including the keeper. out of possesion they are clever in committing a lot of niggling fouls to stop any counter attacks and they are good at pressurising teams to win possesion.they have hardly any injuries this season and have virtually two squads that have enough quality to never have to change these methods meaning they can rest players and manage their season effectively.they have had easy draws in every cup competion for the last two years.. hmm fishy perhaps?? They should win the quad with all the money they have spent on fast players anything less is a failure for them.I am proud of where we are now and how we go about things if our manager had spent a quarter of the money they have spent we would be better than them.

Your assertion that City operate under different rules is wrong. We are being re-investigated again on the2014 breach because they think we may have some further explanation to do.
That investigation has got nothing to do with the current squad.
But I guess it feeds the Liverpool mafia narrative that they are a poor club while City are not.

If City need a player they buy them. Sometimes they will pull out if the price becomes too comedy (Sanchez) but when the price is acceptable they pay. There's no balancing of the books. No selling their best players to generate funds. It's hollow
