I keep reading about people (mainly Jamie Carragher to be fair) warning CHO not to sign a contract extension at Chelsea - presumably because Chelsea have a bad record of giving youth players actual first team game time. But I notice that a couple of high profile youth players from Chelsea who left in order to fulfill their ambitions didn't experience the boost to their careers that they had anticipated. Chalobah left for £5M to go to Watford so he could get more gametime, and although he has had injury problems I can't see him displacing their first team midfield players anytime soon. And Solanke left so that he could be a first team player - and ended up on the bench at Bournmouth. The only thing he succeeded in doing was making some money for Liverpool.
I'm sure some high profile youth players are ambitious, and aim for career-improving moves, but they should also be aware that other teams will likely be just as difficult. CHO probably looks at Sancho and thinks it will be easy to go to Germany and be a star - but it won't be. There's no guarantee he will be in the Bayern Munich first team if he goes - plus he'll have to learn a new language and culture. Those are tough hurdles. For Bayern it makes sense - get a young English player on the cheap, and sell him back to an English club a couple of years down the road. They probably see him as a money-making proposition. But in my opinion, CHO is doing well at Chelsea. Getting a decent amount of game time and that will only increase. Maybe he is just angling for a better contract - but I have to think that staying is his best bet right now. I hope he does sign an improved contract - it would be great to have a first team player who came up through from the youth team.

It's actually getting quite ridiculous now.
Any other club on the planet would be getting praised to the heavens for how they have managed him and RLC this season.
However with us the complete opposite even in our own fanbase.
Comes on in a cup final (while Foden stays firmly on the opposite bench) and it's ignored by almost everyone.
Gets an England call up on the back of his appearances here and it's somehow spun into a narrative that we hold him back
It's actually quite ridiculous when I really think about it

No time for Carragher the gobber. Disgusted by Sky taking him back. To your point CHO getting first team time and the opportunity to be around his family and friends can only help him to decide to stay put.

His motivation for wanting to leave initally is key.
If he sees Bayern as a step up there's probably nothing we can do but if its based on game time we'll probably win the battle to keep him.

I think the fact he's playing more regularly in important games, the england call up, fact he's been here so long and the fact he will probably be all but guaranteed weekly starts when hazard goes, plus a massive pay rise will keep him here

Personally I don't think it's quite as ridiculous as you make out.
I'm my opinion he was criminally underused in the early part of the season. It's only the last 6/8 weeks he's actually starting getting anything more than the cannon fodder in the early rounds of the EL and the occasional few minutes in league games.
Its taken longer than it should have for him to convince Sarri that he's no worse a bet than his competition!

Maybe at the start of the season but certainly not now, 25-30 appearances including cup finals and semi's at Wembley as a 17-18 old is not to be sniffed at.
If any of the young players can feel a little aggrieved at appearances or lack of this season is Ampadu, I think if someone said at the start Hudson would get 25-30 apps with very few of them being token appearances with the game done (can only recall Bate and Huddersfield on that score) and a cup final appearance (possibly 2) I think we would have all bit his hand off.

You said it yourself DL11, at the start of the season. I'd go as far as to say until late Feb early March.
By then we'd indulged Willy and Pedro far too long.
And yes, I agree with you tha Amps can feel a little aggrieved.

Why does anyone take Carragher seriously? Even before the spitting incident, I've never understood what people saw in his punditry that made them think he had any credibility to his opinions.
I don't get a chance to watch it too much atm, but he used to get regularly owned by Gary Neville on Monday Night Football
Great player. Terrible pundit.

Going off topic, has anyone seen Mourinho's punditry for BeIN sports?
Talks about himself WAY too much (obviously lol), but the moments when he doesn't he's actually very good. Worth checking out.

CHO was under used prechirtmas but since then sarri has played him high profile league games, European games, cup semis and finals and is now in the best 11 and firmly in the England set up.
He is or being offered a large contract at Chelsea with garanteed game time playing for a club that he has been at since he was 8 y/o playing front of fans that already adore him.
If the media or pundits want to spin different ways to sound outraged let them.
