QPR v Forest - Match Thread

A beautiful sunny day in Sydney today. Low 20’s and a light breeze. A good day to hang the washing out. Not long now and the weather will be reversed. Sydney soon to be replicating the cold blustery day in London, for the impending visit of Nottingham Forest.

But for now, like the weather. I’m in a sunny mood. The game against Boro showing promise for the new season ahead. Carvalho’s skill lighting up my screen. A shame it’s too little too late, eigth is now the highest we can finish. However, with QPR safe and Bolton relegated we still have six points up for grabs.

I’ve got a feeling that despite our 14 game winless run away, that we will get our first back to back win since September. QPR have a defensive crisis and last week we won well, without Colback and the loon. The new formation allowing us to play with creativity rarely seen since AKs departure.

Same team, same tactics, same result.

A couple of injuries apparently. Hopefully, none will prove serious. Let’s have a bit of Monkea magic!

I would also ask does MON rate him that highly as a midfielder as playing him as a left back just didn’t make sense, I also wonder what Colback thought about it.

my interpretation of that was they wanted a look at Yacob in cm but felt him and Colback were too similar. So moved Colback to LB as he was playing to well to drop although

Just a thought

Colback had played left back earlier in his career at Ipswich, I believe. It wasn’t a totally alien position for him as a left footer.

I would also imagine there was some kind of clause in the loan agreement that stated that he must play when fit.

Did everyone see what playing for Dirty Leeds has changed Patrick Bamford into yesterday?...

I'm tempted to say that 15 yellows for Colback is acceptable. It would depend on the reasons he has picked up a yellow card. Cards for dissent or kicking the ball away are not acceptable even just one. However as a defensive midfielder it is part of his job to stop breakaways by opponents and he will sometimes feel it necessary to 'take one for the team.'

This now is rather sadly an 'acceptable' part of the game. The same as standing in front of the ball to prevent a free kick being taken early, or running to the corner flag after scoring or just general time wasting. It would be nice if it wasn't so, but, apart from one or two isolated examples, the Corinthian spirit died before I started watching football.

Henri Lansbury was also criticised for picking up too many yellows while carrying out the same role.
