Thought he played really well last night, his size and power on the ball really brings and extra dimension to our midfield. I also feel like he helps improve jorginhos performances or maybe that was just the bandage. Hopefully he can shake off these back issues and we can get a full season out of him next year.

Me either Brummie, I've been saying for a while that this is what he can be for us but it seems to be taking a while to convince many fans.

He's a beast RLC, only midfielder that offers something different in the LCM role. Got to keep him fit next season.
Kovacic is better as a Jorginho replacement for me, he doesn't offer anything going forward.
Barkley is just clumsy but as a squad player he's probably OK. Can sell him next season and use Mount as back up to RLC

Yeah, seems like many of our fans have trouble accepting that some of our own products are actually good players, yet they always talk about buying young players from other clubs so enthusiastically.
Wan Bissaka seems to be the latest, 'Lets go get' wish, just why, when we have Reece James chomping at the bit!

A fair few fans only know the current model as a way of bringing in new talent. Go back to the 60,s and 70,s and history shows a stream of talent brought through the youth system to first team. It can work. Heck one of those youth team players holds the record club appearances, a record that will never be broken imo, and was our most successful captain pre Roman.

I thought the first 30 minutes he was sloppy. But that was probably down to the whole team starting poorly.
After that though, he was easily the best player on the pitch. As others have said, hopefully he can stay injury free and keep pushing on.
I was reading through BBC Live Text after the match yesterday and the reporter posted this:
"RLC has been the business tonight. Chelsea's best player on the night. Does he need a move? He's got all the tools to be a superb player, I think."
Can't help themselves...

The Beeb embarrassing themselves once again. He's been getting an ever increasing amount of gametime here despite suffering with a back issue that will likely need operating on sooner or later otherwise he'd have been playing even more than he has. Ruben has a great future here, sorry to ruin it for you Beeb.

Well our fans need to get used to this model. We can't have it both ways. Either we gladly accept that in Reece James we have a fantastic player coming through the ranks and give him every opportunity starting from next season onwards or we watch him go elsewhere and thrive while we pay out top dollar for another player.
If fans want to get behind signing Wan-Bissaka then there can be no moaning from them about none of this brilliant once in a blue moon generation of youth that we have coming through.

Agree with you both - that comment really annoyed me. RLC has been our first choice central midfield player recently when he is fit. What right does the BBC have to start offering him round to other clubs. They wouldn’t do that to other clubs - I don’t understand what they have against Chelsea. Their suggestion that RLC (and CHO) is not getting game time is just not accurate. When he’s fit he plays. And he ASKED to be substituted yesterday - the amount of grief Sarri received for that was ridiculous.
