Brighton

Everyone's saying Harry will be out at the end of the season, and I'm not one to miss a bandwagon so I thought I'd see how a potential replacement was doing at Brighton.

I only watched the second half on a dodgy stream last night but Brighton are playing lovely football under Poyet - stroking the ball around with great movement off the ball.

It was almost like watching Spurs

Thoughts?

Not given it a lot of thought to be honest. I think you were right the first time and that he seems surrpised at the physicality of this league.

I read somewhere that there was a managers/coaches get-to-gether in Switzerland recently and he was asking SAF how best to combat Stoke's physical style. He clearly isn't comfortable on these things.

It might be a form of mind games as well, but I don't think so myself

And why would SAF advise one of his biggest rivals for the title how to beat Stoke?

He's lost it aint he?

I agree Gus Poyet should definately be considered if he has Brighton up there at the end of the season.

I always believed he would have a touch of the Kevin Keegans about him (rubbish tactical awareness) but he has been very astute so far.

However it is all a mute point as the succesor to Harry will be Tim Sherwood.

Do you think all promoted managers should be considered, or just Poyet?

If that's your view, then fair enough, but I am struggling to think of too many reasons why Levy would be tempted to look at Sherwood. I am not even sure if he got his coaching badges yet, never mind his scant mangerial experience at anything above reserve football.

From a personal point of view, I was always a bit peeved he got this job because it stinks of "jobs for the boys". After several years as a pundit on Setanta TV where he rarely had anything good to say about the club - indeed, on one occasion, he referred to us a 'mid-table' club' - then he turns up on our doorstep because he happens to be a bit golfing buddy of Jamie's.

I am of an age, where I still believe that to get a coaching job is through proving yourself as a coach, rather than because you're chummy with someone.

But we are where we are with Sherwood and in fairness to the guy, I do know for a fact he is extrememly popular with everyone at the club.

@chickenonabasketball
In my opinion poyet knows the club well and he plays football in an attractive manner which is what in my mind tottenham hotspur are all about. His connection is why I would Think he should be considered In order for a more smooth changeover. Ideally you wouldn't want a Gary megson type coming in upsetting the squad that has been built.

@spurcat

Haha we have had these conversations on BBC 606. Personally I hate the idea and it still smacks of a "mates" appointment. However the information I got from two seperate club officials that sherwood is going to be given the opportunity just did not seem like a silly rumour. I just feel certain on this.

Funny you should say that, because earlier this season I walked into a restaurant in the Bournemouth area and there was Harry sat eating with Milan Mandaric and Gary Megson !! Turned out Sheffield Weds were playing at Bournemouth the next day <phew>

My 606 name was i look like modric.... glad i live long in the memory!

Haha lets hope Mr Megson was not offering any of his great managerial advice. Moan and put 11 men behind the ball is usually what he advocates.

Speaking of restaurant situations... our former keeper Paul Robinson was with his wife in a local chinese my two "friends" (arsenal supporters) thought it would be funny to start giving him some stick about spurs. Not only did he sing we hate arsenal, he paid for their bill aswell!

I should have realised. I remember saying to you once "I hope you don't look like Luka" !!!!

What a great story about Robbo. He has always been Top Man for me. That tale is typical of the guy.
