City close in on midfield duo?

With the summer transfer window edging ever closer, talk of potential incomings here at Manchester City are increasing by the day.

And this weekend sees D-Day in the Premier League as City travel to Brighton knowing a win will see us retain our Premier League crown. We’ll bring you all the latest from across this morning’s back pages on that.
But let’s start with some gossip. TEAMtalk have been scouring Europe for the latest transfer news, and they say City are reportedly closing in on two midfielders.
Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes is understood to be a target, with Spanish outlet Onda Cero claiming we are in pole position to capture his signature.
"Recent reports have suggested that City are closing in on a move for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, who has been heavily linked with rivals Manchester United," they write.
“The 24-year-old midfielder has scored an incredible 31 goals and made 17 assists in his 50 appearances for the Portuguese giants this season."
But that's not all. They say Atletico Madrid youngster Rodri is also high on City’s wishlist.
“Spanish outlet Onda Cero claims that Fernandes is likely to arrive at the Etihad Stadium as part of a double deal, the second part of which involved Atletico Madrid star Rodri.
“Meetings have apparently taken place between City and the LaLiga side over the 22-year-old, who is tipped to become the long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets in the Spanish national team."
We'll keep an eye on all the latest transfer talk as the summer window approaches...

Ahead of Sunday’s game at the Amex Stadium, Brighton defender Lewis Dunk says it will be nice to play without pressure after the threat of relegation finally subsided last weekend.
He told Brighton’s official site: “It’s about us doing our own jobs, as a professional footballer you just want to go out and win the games you play.
“We’re not thinking about their title challenge, we’ve got a good week to prepare for the match and we’ll focus on ourselves and see what happens.
“It will be nice to go out and have the pressure off slightly this week, we finally have no pressure – I think that might have held us back in recent weeks, but it’s done now, and we’ve earned our place for another year."
That’s all for this morning’s roundup of the back pages – but stay with us throughout the day as we bring you all the buildup to Sunday’s crucial final game of this season’s Premier League.
