I know many including myself have criticised players, etc. for this end of season debacle, but I agree with many posts here that the players and coaching team deserve great credit for the incredible energy they put in this season, this is why I think it is an absolute disgrace that a team finishing 3rd with 25 wins and 83 points has to be judged on playoffs matches, and now we have a situation whereby Derby(6th) or the Villains(5th) could go up with just 76 or 74 points respectively, it is very discouraging for players and everyone linked with this club or any club in a similar case. Where's the justice here ? This is wrong, and needs changing big time.
Would have been nice if they had a 4th place playoff whereby we played West Brom ! Feel sorry for West Brom too.

Clubs need money.
Rugby league was dying, whilst not perfect, play offs have saved it.
Both are great for fans and club make abit extra money

Football at the end of the day is entertainment, adding in the play offs adds to it. You knew the drill before the season started. There is no injustice. At all.
Look at it this way, Leicester lost in the play offs in a cruel fashion and it spurred our team on to win the league the following season.

You're all missing the point a bit.
There should be playoffs BUT laid out differently like the IPL for example.
One off games
Match 1: 3 v 4 Winner direct to final
Match 2: 5 v 6
Match 3: Loser Match 1 v Winner Match 2
Final: Winner Match 1 v Winner Match 3

I agree. There should be a greater benefit for finishing higher. I don’t like the play-offs at all. Maybe if the third placed team is enough points ahead of fourth, say ten, they should get autos. Or sixth plays at fifth for the right to play at fourth, and the winner of that plays at the third-placed team rather than Wembley. We have benefitted this time, but it isn’t right in my opinion.
