Building to pounce

Now being realistic, City and Liverpool are unlikely to be caught within the next couple of years, certainly next (we simply have too much to do) so what we need to do is focus on building a team that can pounce when their current cycle ends.

In the early part of the next decade I imagine Pep will leave City at some point while a fair chunk of Liverpool's current key players will be hitting their 30's like Salah, Mane, VVD, the former two rely on Atletic qualities which puts them vaunlrable to a steep decline and the replacements aren't guaranteed to be as good in quality and especially chemistry.

The best course of action will be to do almost what Liverpool themselves have done since Klopp's arrival and that's to slowly build a young side capable of pouncing when those two drop their guard.

So Tottenham and Arsenal didn't collapse? Their form at the end of the season was exactly normal form for them?

Wahl (on replacing Sarri).

Allegri's available. Within the last 24 hours has announced he's willing to learn to offers.

Thoughts?

Huddersfield and Fulham's opponents, have one on me for getting us that top four spot

My problem with Allegri was I heard I said some questionable things about the racist incident with the Juventus player that happened recently. If it wasn't for that I'd be all for him.

Chelsea finished one point above Tottenham in 4th place. That Tottenham team got 11 points out of a possible 36 from their final 12 games. Those 12 games include losses to Burnley, Southampton, Bournemouth and West Ham United. In those 12 games they lost 7 games and drew 2. Had they won any one of those 9 games they failed to win they would have finished above Chelsea.

Chelsea also finished two points above.Arsenal in 5th place. And Arsenal team that got 7 points out of a possible 21 from their final 7 games. Those 7 games include losses to Everton, Crystal Palace, lester and Wolves. They also drew at home to Brighton. Any combination that gets them three more points from those results and they finish above Chelsea.

I know that Chelsea finished 3rd, but would you not agree that they were really lucky that both Tottenham And Arsenal kind of collapsed at the end of the season and if it wasn't for that, then Chelsea wouldn't have finished above them?

Thoughts on your team finishing 6th?

The theory behind this makes sense but you need a manager, squad, owner and fan base that are committed to such a project. Liverpool had that and are reaping the benefits, but it doesn’t seem likely that Chelsea have.

That's why I think Lampard could be the right man if Sarri goes.

Because he's one of the few men our match going fans will stick by no matter what (and as you saw in the Torres and Jose situation, when our fans decide to break the mould and show some patience they show some serious patience) Lampard loves the club enough to make long term decisions regardless on whether he would be the ultimate benefactor.

I'm up for it Daz!

So what's the plan!

Yeah that’s possible, and I feel we are in a similar situation to what you therorise, but like us it also becomes an issue of commitment from above. There will be dissenting voices from the fans but it can be drowned out if the other three components are on the same page. The big question is whether Roman will be, and I suspect, like with us, that won’t be the case.

Sarri is fine to stay at least one season...given what he's achieved...which frankly was against all odds.

Lampard needs a season more at Derby, whether that's in the Prem or the Championship

We have no idea whether we'll get a transfer ban...looking as likely as not, and either way we really do need to promote the youth we have
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he achieved what he achieved because everyone else was worse than him. Not because he was better, any other season with form like this and we finish 6th. Arsenal threw top 4 away with their form at the end and Tottenham and Man Utd weren’t much better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
so...in essence he was better than Emery, Poch & Ole/Mourinho in the league then....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Way to miss the point completely you dumb furrrk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can someone please point out the error of my ways here...I feel so stupid having missed the point now

Thanks
