I've been thinking about what to put in this article since yesterday and to be honest I don't really know what to write, other than to say that United will be spending our fourth season in the Championship after failing to overcome a poor, poor St Mirren side.
And unlike the last time we lost a play-off final, this time we can't even blame the ref.
Let's start at the end. For four professional footballers in a row to miss penalties for one team is incredible. If I supported another team I'd find it laughable, and I'm sure many did. It says something about mentality and probably the worst thing is that I didn't feel surprised when any of them missed.
Ultimately over the two legs we didn't show up. Some of our experienced players, particularly our two CBs, chose these games to have their worst games of the season. The midfield was non-existent. The forwards looked toothless. The subs had no impact, and yesterday seemed to make us worse. Neilson didn't get things right at all over the two games.
Not that St Mirren were better. In fact I thought they were dreadful. But so are we, unfortunately.
On the ref, I thought the penalty was the correct decision as the hands were well away from the body. The red card was a nonsense though. We possibly could have had another penalty but they are rarely given.
It was a painful evening last night and a very, very flat Monday morning. Sometimes fitba is sheidt.

It will be fantastic to have two teams from the same City fighting it out for a title. Something that doesn't happen in any other league

Yeah i think McMullan and the boy Harkes may attract some interest.
Pawlett is absolutely dreadful, just wants to dive aw day
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pawlett is useless. He's fat and falls over. He can get so far to feck.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope he becomes a target for the boo boys. Being crap or having a shocker I can forgive, but he hid in all 4 play-off games and was absolutely shocking.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. Well, not upwards. Treading water I suppose.

I have a strong dislike of Peter Pawlett. I would not be keen for him to play next season.
