Trent Bridge

Trent Bridge gets the next two home Ashes series. Absolutely marvellous news! The venue in my rather biased eyes absolutely deserves it as it has spent so much money and time upgrading its facilities to the highest standard.

Some may say that Edgbaston should have got it and I would agree that it is larger than Trent Bridge (it is larger also than Chester le Street) but Trent Bridge is one of the prettiest and most idyllic grounds in international cricket. It is understated, classy, and unassuming, a venue which emulates English Cricket. The atmosphere, after having sampled it is also second to none.

Looking at it in an unbiased way it is a very smart move also as TB is a swinging paradise, the way the stands are designed make it a cauldron for swing bowlers and this will play to our strength. English bowlers love Trent Bridge. Many international batsman hate coming to Trent Bridge. I am glad England have a chance to protect the urn in one of their strongest grounds.

It is also good for Nottingham and the ground as the revenue will hopefully allow Nottinghamshire CC to expand the ground in the old press box area and increase the capacity yet I hope they keep the feel of the place the same (the stand in Edgbaston sure is impressive yet I do not feel it fits in with the ground, it looks unfinished though I am sure they want to completely encapsulate it in the future which would be brilliant!).

Anyway I know a lot of people will not agree with me as England is quite rightly regionalised so many people in Birmingham would disagree. But hey, that is cricket!

I must admit I am disappointed that Edgbaston didn't get a test in both series but we do have one in 2015 so we can't complain too much.

I agree that it is a swinging paradise but who knows what the team will be in 2015, we may not have any swing bowlers left.

For me Egdbaston should have an ashes test every time. The atmosphere is so special there and all the players name it as their favourite test ground, so it seems a little strange to me.

We have worked so hard in improving the ground and it looks really special now that they should have got a test in both series.

Good luck to Trent Bridge for both test and hope you do the country proud!

I have got to decide now which one I will go to in 2013, Trent Bridge or Lords? Lords would be good as it is the first test and has all the tradition but Trent Bridge is closer?
