in terms of letting Pogba go?
I remember back when Pogba was first coming through with Juventus that everyone was saying how much of a mistake Sir Alex made letting Pogba go and how Pogba would be perfect for United at that time. Now though, with Pogba having come back and had all these problems, has Sir Alex been proved right in his decision to not do more to keep Pogba? or was it still a mistake and would things have turned out differently if Pogba had stayed at that time?
Has Sir Alex been vindicated

I am a Pogba fan and think he gets criticised unfairly at times. For example, during the season run in I think the players in front of him deserved a lot more stick than he did. Lack of movement was criminal.
But I can't deny that he couldn't do with a kick up the backside too. With his ability and stature could you imagine him with the heart and desire of a Keane or a Gerrard? Those two would eat Pogba for breakfast. It pains me to think that Pogba is a World Cup winner and that the history books will laud him as some superstar.

Usually don't agree with you as I have no idea who you are but this is spot on. I do think he deserved massive criticism during the run in as his form picked up when the new manager came in as he felt he had a point to prove with him being taken out of the tram etc. It seemed to me that when he felt he had proved his point he decided he would go back to strolling around and doing lazy misplaced passes. If there is one moment that sums Pogba up for me, it was in a game when he excellently controlled a ball whilst he was on his ass, got up, got it under control, then passed to the opposition.

It just didnt feel right paying 89mil for a player that we let go for free!!
I still cannot get over this fact!

That is because it isn't a fact, Cantona 7. Juve did have to pay us something. It want much.

The didn't have to pay a transfer fee as such, just compensation for the time United had spent training him and his potential etc.

It was 300k wasn’t it? Which means we paid something like a 30000 % markup...

I thought it was 12 million earlier and then realised I was having another brain fart and that was what Chelsea had to pay us for Mikel.

That was ridiculous. Not even having to sign a player and you get £12m for him which considering transfer fees today would probably be about £30m. To top it all off, he was crap so not only did you dodge a bullet but you got paid for it.
Didn't you also sign Carrick instead?
That's when you used to win at transfers, even when you tried to sign a dud you needed up getting paid for it and putting it towards a better player.

Actually we sold many players at a loss under SAF due to the players being sold were no longer needed or SAF believed not to hinder players who have been loyal to the club. Ed, for all his woes, has managed to get decent money for our sales. We made our money back from Depay and Morgan Sch. Zaha was sold back for half the price but we get a huge chunk if he is sold on. Its one of the reasons why Zaha is valued that high.
What was good was that most players we signed tend to work out more than being flops.
