When you look at the team who played the last game of the season at Charlton you should be reminded of Trigger's broom - that he used for decades albeit with a few new handles and heads.
Marosi Gone
Blair
Downing Gone
Butler Gone
Andrew Gone
Whiteman
Kane Gone
Wilks Gone
Coppinger
Rowe Gone
Marquis Going
If the sale of Marquis comes to pass, as we all expect, we will be left with just three of those first choice players who did the business at The Valley - Blair, Whiteman and Coppinger. This isn't evolution it is revolution. I do hope that Mr McCann knows what he is doing.

Going?

Marquis is up for sale. He wants to go and the manager agrees that he should be playing in a higher division. Our current roster has eight outfield players who have played a substantial number of games over the last two seasons plus Halliday and James - the new full backs. The winger Middleton from Rangers is also said to be coming. The manager now says he wants 18 players in his first team squad with the best of the under 23 squad making up the numbers. He isn't a fan of having two senior players for every position as he says this leads to dissatisfaction.

I've full confidence in what McCanns doing. He obviously wants to build his own team and way of doing things. If the board support him then it could be a great bit of rebuilding, however with success comes potential poaching from teams higher up who are managerless.
Some of those players that have gone/Left, I would have only kept a couple anyway. Age, injury history and high wage demands doesn't really cut it if we are to mount a serious challenge again next season.
