According to a new study which analyses club revenues and performance trends over the past 10 years

Interesting read. With the big 6 taking 3/5ths of total premier league income, increasing points gap between top and bottom and these clubs averaging over 70% possession the article asks if this is the game that fans really want? Is this the beginning of the end for the PL?
The Big 6 are destroying the Premier League

The only major league that wasn't all done and dusted before the final day last season was the Premier League.
Spain, Germany, Italy, you could name next years champions now.
That's not the case in the Prem.

You’re right, I couldn’t tell you whether Liverpool or Man City will win it next season......

This seasons Euro campaign has zero bearing on our aims over the next few seasons in reality. The only thing stopping us doing things quicker is the Fifa Foul Play rules.

Interesting - in Rugby league all clubs have the same wage cap.. so it makes the smaller clubs who don't have a huge fan base be able to compete from time to time.
however, the super league isn't as s#xy as the Premier league, with multi million pound deals and top level players / managers wanting to play here.

I'd see how the Ropey League qualification goes before making predictions on whether Wolves can repeat last years 7th place let alone close the pretty big gap to 6th.
The Big 2 will take some catching next season, with Chelsea losing players and an unproven manager, United rebuilding and no idea what Spurs and Arsenal will do.

this season could be brilliant opportunity for a Wolves, Everton, maybe even Newcastle (if they get some big bucks) to get CL

I think it’s more about whether fans want to see an open and competitive premier league where the smaller clubs and medium sized clubs can compete, or whether fans want the boring predictability of something like la liga where you basically have 2 leagues inside 1. I think that’s probably where we are heading

Hi Blackstarr.
As others have stated, it's as competitive as the big leagues gets.
Predictability, though, is just one part of the equation. Fans also want to get to see the best talent available. The gentrification of crowds also brings less passionate attachment, a higher demand for entertainment and much less patience. Just look at the average PL manager's shelf life nowadays, or at how quickly expensive signings are deemed flops and get shipped out.
Nevertheless, the PL on the whole is in a much better position economically to provide entertainment across the board. PL clubs even outside the top six have bigger budgets than a large majority of the teams in other leagues.
Forget the top six for a minute. Very few clubs on the continent are capable of tabling the wages that even the middle and lower echelons of the PL are able to offer.
Football is still a tribal game, and Britain in general has a very distinctive fan culture, but fans and their expectations are slowly evolving along with the structural changes that are taking place in the game. There's still this idealised notion of what constitutes a 'proper fan', but is that really still the fan that PL clubs are making a killing on? I'm not so sure.

I don't expect us to crack the big six this season given Europe hopefully will be a distraction up til March at least provided we are taking it seriously enough in the early stages.
We rebuild the stadium as of next summer I believe, going up to 45,000 or so I believe which is the next step in generating money to close the fifa foul play bolloks.
If this was ten years ago we would basically be doing what City did

Liverpool are in no way guaranteed a top 2 finish this season. They rely too heavily on Firmino, Salah and Mane to score their goals. A long term injury early in the season to any 2 of those 3 and Kopp's lot will be lucky to make top 4
