Momentous week

Morning gents.

One simple question probably on a lot of Celtic fans minds this week, is it the biggest we’ve had in quite some time?

It seems bizarre to think that but there’s very good reasons why I believe the next week to 10 days could be season defining.

Kieran Tierney, it almost looks inevitable that we’re going to lose him. I had hoped he would be here for at least another year, possibly to go for 10 next season but I also had a sense of deep, dark realism that if he has any ambitions of his own then he’ll be off to the EPL so he can progress into one of the best LB’s in the world. Sadly it looks like the latter is now becoming reality and whilst I’ll be delighted for him personally it’s another absolute bitter blow to us as a club on the park.

David Turnbull, despite any hiccups from the medical results that were due yesterday, he’s expected to be announced in a few hours, someone who knows a guy from the Celtic TV team said everything is prepped for an early morning announcement.

Scott McKenna, thankfully it looks like rumours of a bid for this carthorse are untrue, hopefully we refuse to even consider the possibility of him signing.

Callum McGregor, if you are to believe the rumours, he’s 100% after a move to Leicester and will try to force the move but Celtic are saying no, not this summer. I’d be gutted to lose him too but if I was given a choice, McGregor or KT, I’d let McGregor go.

Other potential signings, the team jet out to Austria today where they will be met up by our international players. Again it’s expected KT won’t travel, I’m not sure if that’s rehab work or we’re confident a deal will be done this week. Lennon said in an interview he wants 4 new signings before 4th July which is the deadline for the 1st qualifier to register new players. If we only manage to get Turnbull in and some of the above points come to fruition then I can only begin to imagine the toxic atmosphere already festering getting to Chernobyl levels of ready to blow...

I totally understand that players, clubs, managers have cycles that come to an end and a rebuild is needed every 3 or 4 years but I always think you can minimise the impact by being smart over that period with your recruitment. That’s absolutely something we’ve made an erse of and there’s a good chance we’ll lose our whole 1st choice back 4 from the majority of last season this summer, 3 of the 4 have already gone.

It’s a huge week coming up and I’d be telling lies if I said I was confident we will get the week and the season ahead right
