Simple question. Do you think Ed was right to give Ole the job, or is there someone else youd have appointed ?
Personally, whilst he talks the talk and iv no doubt Ed will do everything he can to back him, sadly I think Ole will come up short.
Ole. Good appointment or not?

But the issue with the rebuild is the size of the squad and being unable to move on certain players. That’s really hurting us.

Oppo fans input means nothing.
If he fails they will say told you so.
If succeeds they will say, I meant bad for us.

He won't succeed. He was appointed based on a nice early run but the reality is he is a mediocre manager hence he hasn't been close to a big job before. I hope it works out for him but it won't and I will be amazed if he is in the job next May.

It's weird with United. Only club financially capable of taking on City but its just not happening. You'd think they deserve it more because they have made that money themselves.

City is run properly and put football first and have a clear long term strategy. United put commercial aspects first and seem to make short term decisions.

Sanchez
Darmian
Rojo
Thats just 3 players we potentially want rid of with just 1 earning big money.

I think Ole was a good appointment at the time. Same for LVG. I don't think Moyes or Jose were good appointments at the time.
Whether he will be long term depends on a lot of things, such as getting the right players in and out as well as luck and form.
The issue I have is that when he leaves we will start this process all over again. Unless we put in place a strategy and not just focus on the commercial side of things, we can become better. I believe he can put in the foundation for the next person to build on, but that all depends on Ed taking a back seat role to running the football side of things.
I'll add that it is easy to lay blame on SAF for Moyes (ignore SAF's advice) but we also have to remember both he and Woodward made a big mess that season (and Woodward has had made several since).
Reports since have shown SAF has had his suggestions ignored (such as wanting Walsh to come in or to hire Poch to replace LVG and then Jose were sacked). And he has praised teams who have structures that include footballing people in the decision making process. You hardly hear him praising how United are currently run or structured.
LVG seemed more like a head coach rather than what we will call managers. For example, he wanted a left footed CB and we signed Rojo. He ended up using Blind there (who started as a DM, then LB before becoming our CB under him) as he was able to do what Rojo didn't. It shows that those who made the decision to sign the player didn't take into account of what the manager wants his defenders to do other than being left footed. IMO, you can see during his time who were his choices and who weren't.
We can't keep carrying on as we have been as will eventually run out of either money or top players/high potential players wanting to play for us.
