Who else is excited about this?!
Ari Aster (Hereditary) is making his sophomore statement and by all accounts is proving himself as a fantastic (horror) director. Him and Alex Garland are the two most exciting up and coming directors at the moment imo.

I will admit that I am interested in this one
As for his previous work I enjoyed Hereditary and with Alex Garland, Ex Machina was good but I felt that Annihilation was a bit of a letdown

I enjoyed Annihilation a lot up until it stopped being a sci-fi film and went full fantasy. I felt the last 1/4 of the film undermined what the film built up to.

In what way exactly?

Only seen it once but was really looking forward to it and it didn't live up to expectation.
Just wasn't scary

It's terrifying and soul destroying imo. It's also one of best, if not the very best, horror films ever. The tension and terror it creates is bordering on traumatic. I and others I've talked to have felt like we were holding our breathe until the movie finally finished.
I've also talked with others who saw it in a large crowd and that ruined it for them. One idiot chuckles at something and then everyone does. People deal with awful moments in different ways. So one might laugh when something just too awful to put yourself in that place in happens and others might take it the wrong way.
Nobody can convince me Hereditary is anything but a genuine classic.

I watched it in one of those posh cinemas that had like us and 8 other people in it
I enjoyed the film but wasn't blown away

I too didn't think much of Hereditary, I actually found it a bit of a drag.

In that "this hurts, make it stop" kinda of good. Nightmare.
