Suppose it depends how you define unearthing a gem. Not many would have thought they’d play a key role in a title challenge and a CL win

That’s a different matter. But I don’t think signing players everyone knows constitutes unearthing a gem.

It’s an ailing concept anyway. With the media and exposure to football all across the board most players in Europe are quite well known. It’s not like the old days, where it was more common.

Robertson yes, but won’t say that if the others. I and many others wanted Mane. Salah I recall played against us for Basel and was excellent & and Wijnaldum was known as a talent for a long while.

Robertson himself wasn't a gem, as he was highly rated and played in the PL. I was surprised at seeing him snapped up for 8m. I thought they could have got double for him.

I'd say Dele Alli would be considered more of a gem than those listed for Liverpool.

Mahrez was a gem for Leicester.

Dele Ali was a gem for Spurs.

James could be a gem for us

Salah was a gem. Everyone laughed when liverpool signed him. Similarly Gini.

James is bang average.

Salah was laughed at due to his time at Chelsea. He wasn't a gem as he had done well at Roma.

Gini, as you call him, was always highly rated before his move to Newcastle. He was an established first team player there.

No idea how James will do. As long as he dien better than Keita, he'll have done well.

Rouge is bang stupid. He only comes on our board to mock, and then wonders why nobody takes him seriously.
