For all the talk of Lamps and how much the youth will get a chance is dominating discussion and excitement (rightfully) it shouldn't go under the radar what an important part the senior players will play to helping the transition and ease in process of the youngsters and Lampard himself.
People rave over Ajax last season but they did have the likes of Blind, Tagliafico, Tadic, Zyiech and Huntellar as the balance to the youth players that were in the side. It's important we do the same and judging by his use of the likes of Richard Keogh last season and his talk in the presser Lampard is well aware that we must not go all Arsenal late 00s.
Azpi, Luiz, Kante, Jorginho, Pedro, Giroud and even Willian will all have a big role to play this season within the squad in making sure all the young players introductions to the set up and the pressures playing for Chelsea bring run as smoothly as possible.
The young boys are our future but those players above are crucial in making sure the winning mentality at the club remains through the next generation (just as Lampard, Terry, Drogba playing with Azpi, Eden etc al did the last time we were shifting from one era to an another).
The senior players

A point Wahl brought up a few weeks ago and I'll mention it again.
Frank knows better than anyone the influence senior players have when determining a managers fate, particularly a young inexperienced one - his own experiences with AVB attest to that. And right now we have a player power issue as much as we ever had during his time as a player, arguably worse cos at least his generation of Chelsea players still produced regardless, this team completely switch off.
I'm sure he'll make youth integration a priority, but you've got to assume he'll be smart enough to know he has to placate the established players too.
