No player is bigger than the club

Is a cliche often used when it comes to football, transfers, team selection and wages.

So why do we not sign established players for fear of ruining the careers of younger players?? If no player is bigger than the club why should managers care about young players careers if a better more established player is available and will improve the club??

I have heard fans on here saying why sign players like M'Villa when players like Cocquelin's career would being stunted. If no player is bigger than the club who cares if better players would come in and slow the careers of our current players, who lets face it are quite some way off being top level footballers.

We need quality this January, almost a total overhaul of our defense. Honestly, I believe the only way to cure the horrible problems at the back is to get some ex players back to coach a whole new back 5 ready for the new season next season. We'll just have to cross our fingers and hope this season is damage limitation.

Not just you Batmanu and I see you are joking, but Wenger himself has said things like this in the past as well

you know what wengers problem is, he's been saving too many footballers careers, only for them to go and stab him in the back.

You just have to look up North to Man U to see how it is done. Ferguson seems to always get the balance of experience with youth.

The way he holds on to players over 30 and buys top class youth or promotes from the academy makes alot of sense and is clearly working.

We have lost too experienced players over the years and rely too much on the younger generation making the step up on their own.

Compare all the young players at United and the role models they have to look up to and guide them and then compare with Arsenal.

Whole new back 5?

Szczesny not do it for you?

Szczesny is a very good goal keeper but I do have my reservations at this moment in time. If he's as good as we all think he is a new keeper coming in wouldn't phase him.... but as I said, no player is bigger than the club so if it upsets him then so be it.

Arsenal need role models in the club, not necessarily players but ex players in the defensive side of the game i.e Keown, Winterburn etc can be father figures for our current crop and potential new defender i.e Cahill
